Turkish analyst: Why did Trump attack Iran?

PNN – A prominent Turkish analyst believes that Netanyahu and Trump’s attacks on Iran are part of a recurring scenario that is more reminiscent of Powell’s scandal and historical lie than anything else.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, it is not an exaggeration to say that Turkish analysts have commented on the US attack on Iran in recent days, even more than Iranian political commentators.

A cursory review of articles and analytical columns in Turkish newspapers shows that even commentators who often expressed their views with a biased angle against Iran have been forced to include two important issues in their writings: First, acknowledging the missile power of the Iranian armed forces. Second, pointing out the falsehood of the US and Zionist regime’s excuses for attacking Iran under the pretext of eliminating nuclear threats.

Ibrahim Kiraz, one of Türkiye’s renowned political and economic analysts, has addressed important issues in his analytical column today regarding the reasons for Trump’s attack on Iran.

In his article, Kiraz, in addition to Trump’s real motives, also provided a response to those writers who have made the false claim of defense collusion between Tehran and Washington.

The powers of the court to confront Trump were limited

Let’s review Kiraz’s statements on these issues together:

Why did Trump attack Iran?

Since Trump came to power for the second time, he has failed to deliver on any of the promises he made to the American people. So he has failed in the field and now he wants to come on stage as a “fighting president” and make the American people and public opinion forget his list of failures.

According to Washington, for the person sitting in the White House, this war has no serious costs. Because from America’s perspective, damage and costs only arise when American blood is shed!

As a result, Trump preferred an operation that was carefully designed so that the United States and Americans would not suffer much or the damage would not be visible. To this end, he brought Israel into the fray first.

Then, when the situation was right, he presented himself as a “war president,” claiming to have eliminated a major threat to the United States. For such politicians as Trump, war is always a reliable cover. It doesn’t even have to be a real war.

The movie “Wag the Dog,” released in Turkey under the name “The President’s Tips,” is a particularly interesting example. In that movie, when it is revealed that the American president is having an affair with a young woman in the movie, a fake war story is created to attract public attention.

Similarly, in the novel “1984,” which has become popular again for obvious reasons, a war that no one has ever seen is constantly reported on television and in newspapers to become a source of legitimacy for the regime.

Therefore, now, by launching an attack on Iran, Trump is seeking to distract public opinion from existing realities so that no one notices his inefficiency.

I must also say this: the US and Israeli attacks on Iran are not a “show,” as some claim. There were those who spoke and wrote on Turkish television and newspapers: There is no war, there is collusion between Iran and Israel or Iran and America.

They considered Iran’s reaction, as they put it, a “controlled response” to get out of this situation with the least possible casualties. There is no one to ask them: What sane country would allow its top military commanders to be assassinated by Mossad agents in a fabricated war? What sane country would allow Israel and the United States to attack its oil and nuclear facilities based on collusion? Indeed, making such claims is ridiculous, absurd, and meaningless.

If we look at it from the perspective of the national interests of the United States, we find that the reasons for the war that Trump has started are indeed vague and unclear. Anyone with common sense in Washington does not have a positive opinion about the necessity of this war and condemns it. Many elites and ordinary citizens of America consider Trump’s attack on Iran as the latest madness of an arrogant and narcissistic president.

Trump’s excuse is that Iran is increasing its ability to produce nuclear weapons. However, during the Obama era, a program was started to control these activities and prevent the production of weapons. Trump stopped this when he came to power and resumed it again in his second term. But incredibly, while this issue was on the negotiating table, Trump pushed Israel to attack Iran.

Remember, Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, said just three months ago: Our assessment is that Iran has not built a nuclear weapon and the fatwa of Iran’s religious leader is a deterrent to a nuclear weapons program.

Gabbard, the former director of national intelligence, is a Democrat who emerged as one of Trump’s biggest supporters in the last election. Because she was so effective in the process, she was appointed as the intelligence chief.

Gabbard also corrected her statement by saying: Iran is not building nuclear weapons. But that doesn’t mean it won’t build them later!

Following these events, a report from the Pentagon’s intelligence arm, the Defense Intelligence Agency, was leaked to the press. The report stated that the strikes carried out by American forces “did not destroy major components of Iran’s nuclear facilities, but merely delayed their operation for months.”

Trump reacted sharply to this issue, saying, the fake news channel CNN collaborated with the failed New York Times to thwart one of the most successful military attacks in history.

Because the leak of this report could have ruined the whole thing. Trump needs to buy himself more time by selling this “success.”

Do you remember Colin Powell? He made up this lie: “Saddam has weapons of mass destruction.” Then he repeated it at the United Nations to justify the invasion of Iraq during the Bush administration.

He was known for his success in Vietnam and the first Gulf War, and he was the first black chief of staff of the United States. Powell was popular with all walks of life, both Democrats and Republicans wanted him to be the vice presidential candidate. But he ended up becoming the first black secretary of state. He was even expected to become president.

But that big lie, that unforgivable sin, ended his political career and his personal reputation. He had opposed the idea of invading Iraq in the Bush administration. When his differences with the hard-line faction under the influence of the neocon gang deepened, he resigned as Secretary of State. But it was too late. In any case, that big lie remained on his record.

Countless books have been published, documentaries filmed, and movies made about the event. The Powell incident is an unforgettable case study that has weighed heavily on the shoulders of high-ranking American politicians and bureaucrats ever since.

Tulsi Gabbard, the director of intelligence and reporting for the Defense Intelligence Agency on Iran, reminded me of this incident.
