PNN – In a report, an Arab media introduced the Al-Odeid American base in Qatar, which Iran targeted on Monday night.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Masri Al-Iyoum, Iran targeted the ” Al-Odeid ” air base in Qatar in response to the US attacks. A base that is considered one of the largest and most important American military bases in the region.
Al-Odeid Air Base is located in the southwest of Doha, the capital of Qatar, and is one of the most important US military bases in the Middle East. Al-Odeid is the main axis of American operations in the region and a strategic center for guiding the military of this country.
Following the Second Persian Gulf War in 1991, the United States and Qatar signed a military agreement, and in 1996, Qatar began the construction of Al-Odeid base, also known as “Abu Nakhleh Airport”, the cost of which reached 1 billion dollars.
America secretly used this base during the war with Afghanistan in 2001 and the following year officially announced that its forces were stationed there.

This base was gradually expanded and advanced facilities were established in it, which include control and command centers, large warehouses of weapons and fuel, and maintenance workshops for aircraft and other equipment.
In 2003, after the invasion of Iraq, Washington moved its air operations center in the Middle East from the “Shahzade Sultan” base in Saudi Arabia to the Al-Odeid base.
Al-Odeid base is located 30 km away from Doha city and has the longest runway in the Persian Gulf at a distance of 5 km.
In addition to Al-Odeid base, America also uses Al-Siliyyeh base, which is near the city of Doha, where the headquarters of the central command is located, and since its opening in 2000, weapons and equipment have been stored there.
The forces stationed at this base, along with providing advanced defense capability against Iran, participate in some operations. Also, some advanced fighters, including stealth fighters and American drones, are kept in this base.
The Al-Odeid base witnessed a lot of development and expansion with the direct financial support of Qatar. From 2003 to 2022, Doha spent more than 8 billion dollars in support of the operations of American forces and the international coalition, and in addition, it also provided financial support for military infrastructure development projects.
In January 2019, the US Department of Defense and Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding to ensure the financial stability of this base, including the construction of housing and other facilities for Americans.
On Monday night, the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced in a statement: In response to America’s aggressive and brazen action against Iran’s nuclear sites and facilities, a few hours ago, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran destroyed the air base of American forces in Al-Odeid, Qatar.
The number of missiles used in this successful operation was the same as the number of bombs that America used in the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, and the base that was targeted in the attack by Iran’s powerful forces was far away from urban facilities and residential areas in Qatar.
This action does not have any dangerous aspects for our friendly and brotherly country, Qatar and its noble people, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is still committed to maintaining and continuing warm and historical relations with Qatar.
