Arbaeen in Pakistan: Mourning the departed and renewing the covenant with the Lord of Martyrs.
Today marks the 19th of Safar in Pakistan, and the country’s large and small cities are the scene of magnificent Arbaeen rituals and the symbolic march of the Arbaeen survivors.
The spiritual rituals of Arbaeen in Pakistan have taken on a different color and flavor this year; thousands of devotees of the martyrs were denied land travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq, which was due to the decision of the Pakistani government to ban land travel for Arbaeen pilgrims.
Various cities in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Hyderabad, Peshawar, and Skardu, today witnessed the presence of hundreds of thousands of mourners of the martyrs of Karbala, including the survivors of the journey of love.
On this occasion, symbolic marches called Arbaeen Hussaini Walk were also held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, and other cities of the country. Some reports also indicate that Shiite parties and groups protested against the sabotage of the law enforcement agencies to prevent the symbolic walk from being held in some cities of Pakistan.
The commemoration of Arbaeen Hussaini was held with great pomp in most cities of Pakistan, and special security measures were also implemented for this ceremony, especially in the city of Islamabad.
