Tel Aviv’s strange precondition for the Syrian government before the start of talks in Baku.
Simultaneously with the announcement of the talks between Syria and the Israeli regime on Thursday in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, Hebrew-language media outlets are highlighting the details of these talks and reporting on Tel Aviv’s strange preconditions for accepting talks with the Damascus government.
In this regard, the Israeli television channel “Kan 11” reported that “Ron Dermer”, Minister of Strategic Affairs in Netanyahu’s cabinet, revealed Israel’s precondition for accepting direct and unmediated talks with the Syrian side in a message to “Asad Shaibani”, Foreign Minister of the Syrian interim government.
According to this Israeli media outlet, Israel’s precondition for accepting talks between the parties, which Dermer conveyed to the Syrian Foreign Minister, is that the southern regions of Syria (from Sweida to Damascus) must be completely free of armed forces affiliated with the government of Ahmed al-Sharaa (Abu Muhammad al-Julani), the head of the Syrian interim government.
The Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs added that if Tel Aviv accepts this precondition, it will be ready to negotiate with Syria to resolve its differences.
Agence France-Presse reported hours ago that Baku will host a meeting of Syrian and Israeli ministers on Thursday, where Ron Dermer, representing Tel Aviv, will meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Asad Sheibani.
