The dangers of the “Greater Israel” project for the region.
Hassan Hardan wrote in his analytical article in the Lebanese newspaper Al-Bina: The recent statements of the Israeli Prime Minister regarding his expansionist ambitions to realize the project called “Greater Israel” point to dangerous points about the true nature of the Zionist plan in the region.
From these statements by Netanyahu, it can be predicted that the region will experience greater insecurity and instability and intensify the conflict.
On the other hand, these statements indicate the revival of a Zionist expansionist concept that raises serious concerns among the Palestinian people, Arab countries, and the international community.
Netanyahu’s statements indicate his insistence on the ideology called “Greater Israel” that includes beyond the borders of occupied Palestine. This ideology, which has been welcomed by the extreme right wing in the Zionist regime, includes the annexation of the remaining occupied Palestinian territories as well as parts of neighboring Arab countries such as Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.
The analysis continues: These statements are a re-emphasis of the Zionist regime on its opposition to the formation of a Palestinian state, and by making these statements, Netanyahu tried to strengthen his political base among the far-right movement within the regime and to satisfy his partners in his cabinet coalition who strongly believe in this ideology.
With these statements, Netanyahu also sent a message to the international community that he does not pay attention to international pressure and is determined to realize his project even at the expense of regional security and stability.
Intensification of tension and conflict in the region and increased cycles of violence should be considered among the expected consequences of such statements.
According to this analysis, expansionist measures and annexation of the occupied territories will lead the Palestinians to intensify resistance, because this is their only option to confront the Zionist occupation and expansionism.
