“Buts and ifs of the ‘peace plan’ in Gaza”

“Buts and ifs of the ‘peace plan’ in Gaza”

Egypt’s three-axis plan to stop the war in Gaza and exchange prisoners has hit a roadblock due to differences between resistance groups and the Zionist regime over the future of this narrow strip and the occupiers’ insistence on continuing the fight to achieve their declared goals, there is no bright prospect for its implementation.

At the same time as the Israeli army and Hamas are engaged in Gaza, leaving tens of thousands dead and wounded, regional negotiations to stop the war continue. In one of the latest political moves, Egypt has taken a new initiative to advance peace talks, putting forward a “three-stage” peace plan for implementation if Tel Aviv authorities and Palestinian resistance leaders agree.

Egyptians have not made the details of this plan clear, but a Palestinian source told the newspaper “Al-Sharq” about the Cairo peace plan: “The first stage includes a complete ceasefire throughout Gaza by both sides, during which Israeli forces will be stationed away from residential areas and allow citizens, cars, and trucks to travel from southern to northern Gaza.” The Palestinian official explained that this action also includes stopping all types of Israeli air flights, including reconnaissance planes, and this stage coincides with an increase in the provision of humanitarian aid, including to the northern areas of the Gaza Strip.

The second stage includes the release of all female soldiers detained by Hamas in exchange for the release of some Palestinian prisoners by Israel.
