Ceasefire, what America Democrats don’t want

PNN – While two months have passed since the genocide of the Zionists in Gaza with the management of the war by Washington, the resolution proposed by the UAE for a ceasefire this morning was stopped by the veto of the American democratic government.

According to the Pakistan News Network, “immediate ceasefire sows the seeds of the next war”. This was stated by the deputy representative of the United States in the United Nations, Robert E. Wood, at the meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Saturday morning, Tehran time. A meeting was held to issue a resolution proposed by the United Arab Emirates to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, and despite 13 votes in favor of the permanent and non-permanent members of the Security Council and one British abstention, it failed due to the American veto.

Two months have passed since the killing of civilians, women and children in Gaza and the bombing of residential houses, hospitals, schools, mosques and churches by the Israeli regime in response to the Al-Aqsa storm operation. A war that, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amirabdollahian, “is managed by the American military and security apparatus.”

In this regard, the Wall Street Journal recently pointed out that the United States sent 15,000 bombs and 57,000 artillery shells to the Zionist regime, which is the largest recipient of American military aid, with 3.8 billion dollars a year.

According to the announced statistics, more than 17,000 people have been martyred after the Zionist attacks on Gaza in the last two months, and about 8,000 of them are children. Although the war stopped for a week during this period, this stop did not last and on Friday, the 10th of December, while Qatar had announced that negotiations to extend the ceasefire were underway, a new round of Zionist attacks on Gaza and the West Bank began.

This is the fourth time that America opposes and vetoes the resolution in the Security Council in these two months. Two vetoes (October 18 and December 8) and two oppositions (October 16 and October 25). The democratic government (October 18) had vetoed the United Nations Security Council resolution in line with humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and the request to stop the conflicts.

The right of veto in the United Nations Security Council is the right given to the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, namely the United States, France, England, Russia and China, to prevent the approval of any draft in this council.

The veto of the resolution proposed by the US also brought reactions in the second month of the Zionist attacks. The representative of the Zionist regime, Gilad Erdan, who called this resolution “distorted”, appreciated Washington’s renewed support. But on the other side of the story, France, which had voted against the proposed resolution on this war on October 16, did not join America this time. Acknowledging the failure of the Security Council, the country’s representative at the United Nations, Nicolas de Riviere, said that “France is deeply concerned about the human tragedy in Gaza.”

The deputy representative of Russia in the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, also pointed out the inaction of the Security Council and added, “Once again, American diplomacy is leaving behind scorched earth and destruction.” He also accused the US government of “complicity in Israel’s brutal massacre” in a statement.

The representative of China also described the veto of this resolution with the phrase “great disappointment and regret” and Britain, which voted against this resolution, cited the reason for it as “not condemning Hamas” in the draft resolution.

In the meantime, one of the senior officials of Hamas, Ezzat al-Rashq, also condemned this action of America and called it inhumane and direct participation in the killing of Palestinians.

The veto of the mentioned resolution also brought the reaction of Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani, while condemning the action of the United States, called Washington an accomplice of the Zionists and considered the consequences of any expansion of the scope of the war in the region to be directed at the United States and the Israeli regime.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also described the US veto with this sentence: “The United States is left alone in supporting the continuation of the war against Gaza.”

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan also expressed his opposition to this US action.

In the meantime, the American representative, in justifying the veto of this resolution, claimed that the prepared draft was far from the facts and would have left Hamas on its own and could reorganize itself and repeat attacks similar to October 7th.

In this regard, the analyst of West Asian issues, Seyed Reza Sadalhosseini, in an interview with Fars reporter, said that this is the second time that the United States, contrary to the significant request of the people of the world and the high officials of the countries, made an event that showed its essence and nature: The veto of this resolution showed that part of the 75-year-old crimes of the Zionist regime in the usurped lands were directly managed by the United States, and Washington showed that its human rights slogans are nothing more than slogans even with the presence of a democratic government.
