Exile to “Cyprus”: A new American-Zionist conspiracy against the oppressed people of Gaza

Cyprus

PNN – The proposal to temporarily resettle Gaza refugees in Cyprus reflects Trump and Netanyahu’s coordination to attack Gaza’s identity and demographic structure.

As heartbreaking images of the condition of Gaza’s children, thousands of whom are suffering from famine and disease, are being released, the fearsome intelligence and security teams of the United States and the Zionist regime have put new conspiracies on the agenda for Gaza. The proposed plan by the group known as the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to transfer Palestinian refugees to the island of Cyprus is another such conspiracy. The foundation, whose core is made up of officers from both the Mossad and CIA intelligence services, suggests that Cyprus could be considered as a “humanitarian transit zone” within the framework of a $2 billion plan to “temporarily” accommodate Palestinian refugees during the reconstruction of Gaza.

Although the foundation denied this, Reuters reported in a special report that such a thing had been proposed and that its main goal was to find “an alternative to Hamas’ control over the Gaza population,” meaning a plan to distance Palestinians from their fighting children. The Washington Post also reported that the foundation has even entered into negotiations to build housing complexes for Palestinian civilians. This news is reminiscent of Donald Trump’s statements on February 4, during which he publicly announced for the first time that the United States was seeking to resettle the 2.3 million Palestinian population elsewhere in order to “take control” of the war-torn region and rebuild it.

The economy of Cyprus relies on tourism. If unemployed or underemployed Palestinians start harassing girls, women and tourists, it will damage Cyprus’ long-term brand, and individual Palestinian attacks on Israeli, American or European tourists would be a disaster for the tourism industry. Currently, many American and European analysts are openly speaking about the fact that civilians in Gaza, especially women and children, are being deliberately put at risk of death and targeted for war crimes by the army under Netanyahu.

The Cyprus issue goes beyond Gaza refugees

The Israeli regime’s efforts to develop security and military relations with Cyprus and Greece are part of the regime’s long-term goals to exploit the geopolitical position of the island of Cyprus, as well as planning to unilaterally exploit energy resources in the eastern Mediterranean. On the other hand, as noted in a report by the Jewish magazine Hellas Washington, Netanyahu’s attention to Cyprus is reminiscent of a historical background of Jews fleeing Europe and using Cyprus as a hiding place and safe passage.

But now the Zionist regime intends to use the issue of rebuilding Gaza as an excuse to deport some of the city’s residents to Cyprus and remain there forever. This is despite the fact that the people of Gaza, even before the war and famine, were living in a place that was known by Western analysts as “the world’s largest roofless prison,” and now, if they were not exposed to constant attacks by snipers and Zionist units, they could remain in their homeland under the same difficult conditions and rebuild it.

Forced displacement in a humanitarian guise

Encouraging Palestinians to leave their homeland has a long history, but in recent years, Zionist extremists such as Internal Security Minister Itamar Ben-Guer and Finance Minister Betzel Smotrich have been more vocal about the idea than anyone else. Ben-Gweir, in particular, has repeatedly claimed in his statements that the migration of Palestinians from Gaza is a security necessity and that the war will end with their departure! Meanwhile, Smotrich has also reported that Netanyahu himself, with a team of advisors, is considering the proposal to relocate the people of Gaza to any country willing to accept them, which could end the problems. But the problem is that not only the people of Gaza and Palestinian fighters, but also international observers have considered such proposals as rhetoric whose main goal is the forced displacement of Palestinians.

Palestinians and 50 years of displacement

A brief look at the statistics and reports of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) shows that by mid-2023, 5.9 million Palestinians had fled Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and other regions as refugees. This is despite the fact that the figures are based solely on voluntary registration, and therefore the actual number of displaced persons may be higher. The agency’s report No. 163, compiled in May 2025, shows that at least 1.9 million people, or about 90 percent of Gaza’s population, were displaced multiple times in a month during the conflict.

Human Rights Watch has described this displacement as “widespread, systematic, and tantamount to forced displacement” and a war crime under the Rome Statute. The presence of 1.9 million refugees during the Gaza war is one of the largest internal population displacements in modern history and demonstrates the great plight and suffering of people who lack basic emergency services and infrastructure. All this while the authorities of Egypt, Jordan, the Arab League, and the Palestinian Authority have issued several statements calling all relocation plans “violations of international law” and tantamount to ethnic cleansing. From the perspective of human rights activists, forced or compulsory displacement risks uprooting Palestinians from their homeland, disrupting social networks, and violating their right of return – under UN General Assembly Resolution 194.
