Heavy US bombing in Yemen; Will Sanaa surrender?

PNN – Yemeni threats have led to an increase in the prices of products, especially basic food necessities, in Israel, due to a shortage of goods in the market due to the increase in sea freight costs and the increase in risk insurance rates. Alternatives to sea transportation are too expensive and the Israeli economy cannot afford them in the long term. In fact, the armed forces of Yemen operations against Israeli ships in the Red Sea have placed an additional burden on the Israeli economy, the only bottleneck of which is Eilat (Umm al-Rashraash), the regime’s vital crossing and its largest import port.

For more than 48 hours, the US and British coalition have been bombing Yemen in a joint aggression, a bombing that has so far killed more than 60 people, and a significant number of the injured and martyred have been women and children. In the bombing of Yemen, which began on the orders of US President Donald Trump, the names of Yemeni children appear frequently. Interestingly, on the morning of the same day that Yemeni children were martyred in the bombing ordered by Trump, the US President had posted a photo of himself with an American child on the White House grounds. Perhaps Trump intended to show himself as a child-lover by posting a photo of himself next to an American child, but the bombing of Yemeni children by Trump’s order once again showed that the slogan of defending human rights and children’s rights is just that, a slogan, nothing more! At the same time, the bombing of Yemen by American warplanes in the past few days has caused extensive damage to Yemen. In this situation, the main question is whether US military pressure and attacks will be able to force Yemeni forces to surrender?

America, Israel’s Advocate

The United States claims that its attacks on Yemeni forces are aimed at restoring security to the Red Sea shipping and trade route, a route where Yemeni forces have repeatedly targeted ships and tankers carrying cargo to Israel since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza. In fact, Yemeni forces are targeting ships and tankers that serve Israeli interests, because according to the Yemeni government, attacks on ships bound for Israel are carried out in response to Israeli aggression against the Palestinians. In other words, by bombing Yemen, the US has appeared as Israel’s advocate in the genocide against Gaza, and now it is the US that is responding to Yemen’s attacks on Israeli interests along the Red Sea route.

The reality is that the attacks by Yemeni forces in the Red Sea against ships bound for Israel have been able to put a lot of pressure on Israel. The effects of Yemeni attacks on Israeli interests can be examined in the following cases:

Ansarullah leader: Israel will spread its crimes to other countries.

Rising product prices and inflation in Israel: Yemeni threats have led to rising product prices, especially basic food needs, in Israel, due to a shortage of goods in the market due to increased sea freight costs and increased risk insurance rates. Alternatives to sea transportation are too expensive and the Israeli economy cannot afford them in the long term. In fact, the Yemeni armed forces’ operations against Israeli ships in the Red Sea have placed an additional burden on the Israeli economy, the only bottleneck of which is Eilat (Umm al-Rashraash), the regime’s vital crossing and its largest import port.

40 to 50 percent increase in shipping costs to Israel: According to sources affiliated with the Israeli UPS company, sea transportation rates from Asia to the occupied territories have seen an increase of between 40 and 50 percent. Most shipping companies have announced that they will unload their cargo at European ports and transport it to occupied Palestine on small ships, which will increase costs.

Bankruptcy of Israel’s most important port: Last summer, the southern port of Eilat in the occupied Palestinian territories declared bankruptcy due to an 85% decrease in activities due to attacks by Yemeni forces on ships in the Red Sea. The port of Eilat is much smaller than the Mediterranean ports of Ashdod and Haifa, but the attacks by Yemeni forces have had a major impact on Israeli trade. The port, which plays a major role in bulk loading and car imports, is now facing a serious crisis due to a sharp decline in activity and revenues.

Will Yemen stop its attacks on Israel and defend Palestine?

Despite the heavy attacks carried out by the United States against Yemen, there is no sign that the Yemenis will stop attacking Israeli interests after this:

We respond to America: Contrary to the Americans’ calculations, Yemen has announced after the recent bombings that it will also target American goals and interests in the region. In fact, the American attacks have not only not caused Yemen to stop its attacks on Israeli interests, but the Yemenis will also target American interests after this. On Monday, in the wake of a new wave of US attacks, Yemen announced that it had attacked the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman twice in the past 24 hours. The Yemenis have also warned that they will intensify their attacks in response to the new US attacks.

Experience of dealing with American bombs: On the other hand, this is not the first time that Yemen has been bombed with American bombs. Yemenis had been bombed with American bombs many times after 2015 during the Saudi-imposed war, but these attacks, which continued until 2022, never caused the Yemeni forces to surrender. Amnesty International has released a report detailing the use of US-made bombs in deadly attacks on Yemeni civilians. Since March 2015, Amnesty International researchers have investigated dozens of coalition airstrikes and have repeatedly identified remnants of US-made munitions. Accordingly, the recent bombing of Yemen by the US is not the first bombing of Yemen with American bombs, and just as American bombs failed to stop the Yemeni forces in the 2015-2022 war, it is unlikely that the US bombing will have any effect on the will and determination of the Yemeni leaders and people to support Palestine.
