PNN – Martyr Yahya Sinwar, through the strategic deception of the Zionist regime a few years before the historic operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”, paved the way for the greatest blow to Tel Aviv since its founding.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Palestine Information Center, the common belief in the regime’s research centers during the months and years before Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, was that the Hamas movement was controlled and had no intention of entering into war with the Zionist regime.
Among the indicators that reinforced this perception was the lack of participation of the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, in the “Revenge of the Freedmen” battle alongside the “Quds Brigades,” the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement. With this strategy, the Hamas movement, in the stage before Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, was able to limit the Zionist regime’s thinking to the issue that the lifting of the siege on Gaza would be achieved solely through popular activities, which was a mistaken idea, and Hamas was able to deceive the regime and inflict “the biggest blow since its establishment.” This is a conclusion that all Zionist circles at various military, security, political, and social levels accept.

Yahya Sinwar’s strategic ambush
Dr. Bassem Naeem, head of the Hamas political bureau, has pointed to the “strategic deception” that Yahya Sinwar, head of the Hamas political bureau in Gaza, committed before the “Al-Aqsa Storm” battle against the Zionist regime. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Naeem noted that Sinwar took several actions to carry out this deception operation, the most important of which were the “right of return marches” that began in 2017 and, in addition to the stated goal of “lifting the siege,” achieved other goals as well.
He added: The Right of Return marches were a deterrent blow to prevent the Palestinians from exploding inside the cities; in such a way that the fire of popular anger was directed towards the borders, and regional and international authorities at that time were trying to push the internal situation in Gaza towards an explosion and encourage the residents of this area to revolt against Hamas.
Naeem emphasized that during the ceremony commemorating the anniversary of Hamas’s founding in December 2022, Sinwar strongly emphasized that the ceremony’s slogan be “We will come with a fierce storm.” He also insisted that the image of Al-Aqsa Mosque be displayed in the background of the ceremony’s platform, with different segments of the nation seen behind it with Arab and Islamic flags.
The damage caused by the Al-Aqsa storm to the Zionist regime
This prominent Hamas leader emphasized the impact of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on the Zionist regime, saying that the damage inflicted on the Zionist regime was equal to the damage inflicted on the Palestinian side, so that for the first time, the Palestinians were able to determine the time and place of this battle and deal a direct blow to one of the pillars of the regime’s security doctrine, which was “deterrence.”
Dr. Bassem Naeem emphasized that while the Zionist regime was trying to portray itself as a democratic, civilian country with Western values, the entire world, at least at the popular level, came to believe that the Zionist regime was a criminal regime that was committing genocide.
In this regard, Bassem described the Abraham Accords between the Zionist regime and some Arab countries as a coup against the values and heritage of the region and, regarding the timing of Operation Storm Al-Aqsa, stated that this operation took place at a decisive moment; and if we had delayed for just a few months, we would have reached a stage where the Palestinian issue would have completely disappeared.
The Zionist Regime’s Information Blindness about Hamas
On the other hand, Major General Fayez Al-Duwayri, an expert on military and strategic issues, emphasized that the “strategic deception” during the October 7 operation was not the first case of deception to confront the Zionist regime, but that similar scenarios had been implemented by Egypt during the October 1973 war. He added: The Zionist regime viewed Gaza as a “second front” and focused all its attention on Iran.
Al-Duwairi noted that the Zionist regime viewed Hamas as a “black box” that it knew nothing about, because unlike Hezbollah, which periodically revealed its military capabilities, this movement had not demonstrated its military capabilities. He clarified that estimates of the number of Hamas fighters were not accurate, with international media reports estimating the number of its forces at 35,000 to 50,000. In addition, different estimates were given about the movement’s missile stockpiles.
