How do the media victimize Palestine?

PNN – In a report, Al Jazeera investigated the crimes of the Zionist regime against Palestinian journalists and media and the bias of social media against this regime.

According to Pakistan News Network, Al Jazeera in a report investigated the targeting of Palestinian journalists and media by the Zionist regime and the double standard of social media towards Palestine and this regime.

Simultaneously with the numerous attacks of the occupying Quds Army fighters on the Gaza Strip, the occupiers and their supporters are attacking the Palestinian media and content on social media, to the point where the work has been carried out to close the Palestinian user accounts relatively completely.

While the beginning of the Al-Aqsa storm battle on October 7, the Union of Palestinian Journalists and Journalists have revealed dangerous and direct attacks, the “Sadi Social” center, which monitors violations of laws on social media, reports thousands of reports and user account deletions.

The statistics of the martyrs and the wounded of the media

Omar Nezal, a member of the Union of Palestinian Journalists and Correspondents, said in an interview with Al Jazeera: As of Tuesday, this union has recorded the martyrdom of 15 journalists during the recent escalation of tension, including Essam Abdallah, a Reuters cameraman in Lebanon, and the disappearance of 2 other journalists.

Nezal further added that the number of journalists who were injured in Gaza exceeded 20, 40 houses belonging to the families of Palestinian journalists were bombed and the offices of 50 news and media institutions were attacked.

He said: In the West Bank, including Quds and the lands of 1948, dozens of people were injured and directly attacked, 4 journalists were arrested and the “J Media” institute was also closed. In addition, the Eutelsat satellite blocked the Al-Aqsa network under the pressure of France.

Nezal continued: At the same time as Israel’s attacks increase, the Union of Palestinian Journalists and Journalists in the Arab world and internationally is trying to form positions in order to put pressure on the occupiers and force them to stop targeting journalists.

He said: The Union of Reporters and Journalists has formed a crisis committee. This committee monitors violations of the law by Israel and reports these cases directly to the International Union of Journalists and Legal Institutions. This union and these institutions also transfer cases of law violations by Israel to the relevant sub-groups of the United Nations.

Nezal also mentioned the good cooperation of the Egyptian Union of Journalists and Correspondents; this union has formed a special committee to republish all announcements and information published by the Union of Palestinian Journalists and Correspondents and translate them into several languages.

International support for the Zionist regime

In relation to Israel’s deceptions, which are carried out with the participation of the Western and international media, Nezal said: This matter has gone beyond deception and has reached the pursuit and correction of journalists who expressed sympathy with the civilians of Gaza. Exactly what happened in “BBC” and this English news agency fired 6 of its employees.

He further added: The Union of Palestinian Journalists and Correspondents is widely approved by the unions and media and news organizations of the world, including 600 unions to which 680,000 journalists in all parts of the world are affiliated. All or most of these unions have rejected the crimes of the occupying Al-Quds regime in their statements.

On the other hand, the “Sadi Social” center – in a report published on October 16 and a copy of which was obtained by Al-Jazeera – reported that the latest violation of the rules by the “Meta” company was the hiding of links that refer news channels to their alternative channels in Telegram.

Sedi Social announced that these prosecutions have reached the prohibition of using the term “from sea to river” or “from sea to river”, which refers to the historical land of Palestine. Based on this, the use of this word is under the criterion of “enmity with Zionist values”, which is considered a dangerous measure to destroy the rights of Palestinians and their narrative of the Palestinian issue, and openly favoring the Zionist narrative.

Pursuing and deleting Palestinian user accounts

Based on the information of this site, Sedi Social announced that Meta Company deleted 795 thousand posts published in various media of its sub-category in the first 3 days of the war and announced that it has banned several hashtags on Instagram.

According to the report of Sedi Social, the hashtag Al-Aqsa Storm, which was chosen by Hamas as the name of the battle, is among the banned hashtags.

The center announced that it has monitored more than 8,000 provocative Hebrew (Israeli) posts and foreign messages against Palestinians, whose content includes calls for killing and genocide of Palestinians. More than 138 Hebrew threatening messages were also sent to the special message section of Palestinian users in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which contained threats of direct killing and persecution.

Sedi Social stated that the WhatsApp messenger prevented more than 12 calls from being made in the form of this program and removed more than 35 numbers on the pretext of violating the rules of the society, some of these numbers belonged to journalists and reporters present in Gaza. According to this center, these prosecutions show an attempt to destroy the Palestinian narrative and the digital memory of nations.

Double standard in removing digital content

On the other hand, Iyad al-Rifai, the director of Sedi Social, said in an interview with Al-Jazeera: Out of 5,200 contents produced in different social media – which Israel requested to be removed – nearly 4,400 of them received a positive response.

Al-Rifai added: On the one hand, this center has submitted requests for the return of deleted posts to these media, and on the other hand, it has requested the removal of Israeli content that includes incitement against Palestinians.

He continued: There has been relatively complete cooperation with Israel’s requests regarding the removal of the contents produced by the Palestinians, but regarding the removal of the Israeli contents that we request their removal, there has been no cooperation as it should be.

In this regard, al-Rifai mentioned the cooperation agreement with the “Kashif” database, which specializes in monitoring fake news, and said: Based on this cooperation agreement, the Kashf database will transfer the English fake news that it has observed to Sedi Sosyal to request their removal.

He clarified that in the clear bias of the management of these media from the Israeli narrative on the Palestinian issue, strictures and reduced access to content produced by Palestinians have reached informative content. This means the monopoly of the Internet space by the Israeli narrative.
