How much was the American aid to Ukraine? + Statistical details

Pak Sahafat – American network “PBS” wrote in a report analyzing the amount of US aid to Ukraine: since the Russian attack on this country in February 2022, Kiev has become the largest recipient of US aid by a large margin.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency’s report on Monday, the PBS website wrote: The United States spends billions of dollars in aid every year, more than any other country, to its beneficiaries around the world to achieve its security, economic and humanitarian interests.

US foreign aid in 2022 was based on various priorities of the Joe Biden administration, including tackling climate change and dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. But since Russia invaded Ukraine in February of that year, Kiev has become by far the largest recipient of US foreign aid.

This is the first time that a European country has taken the top spot [recipient of US foreign aid] since the then US President Harry Truman’s administration spent huge sums of money through the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after World War II.

According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German research institute, the Biden administration and the US Congress have given more than $75 billion to Ukraine since the start of the war, including financial and military aid.

PBS continued: Dozens of other countries, including most members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union, provide large aid packages to Ukraine.

About 77 billion dollars from America went to Ukraine

The above photo shows that the United States has sent a total of $76.8 billion in aid to Ukraine, of which $46.6 billion is military aid.

Most of this aid has been spent on sending equipment and all kinds of war weapons and providing training courses and information that Ukrainian commanders need to defend against the attack of Russia – which has one of the most powerful armies in the world.

Based on this report, many Western analysts believe that the military aid of the United States and other allies to Ukraine played a fundamental role in the defense and counterattack of Kiev against Russia.

The United States agreed in the summer of 2023 that its European allies would train Ukrainian pilots how to operate the American-made F-16 fighter jets, and eventually these allies would provide Kiev with the warplanes.

Nineteen months into the Ukraine war, the Biden administration has provided or agreed to send Ukraine a long list of defense capabilities, including Abrams tanks, anti-aircraft missiles, coastal defense vessels, and advanced surveillance and radar systems.

Joe Biden’s administration also agreed to provide cluster munitions to Ukraine in July. Since these ammunitions have been banned in many countries, this action of America brought many reactions. When a cluster bomb explodes, it spreads a large number of smaller bombs in a wide area, and these smaller bombs threaten the lives of civilians for years.
