PNN – The US President’s meeting with the leader of the terrorist group Tahrir al-Sham, who currently heads the Syrian government, is an unveiling of official US relations with West Asian takfiri groups, which the US has exploited to advance its goals in the region.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Ahmed al-Sharaa (Mohammed al-Julani), the head of the interim Syrian government, met and talked with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of his visit to Riyadh.
This meeting took place while negotiations to restore Washington’s relations with Damascus had begun three months earlier, but American officials kept these meetings secret because they did not recognize the new Syrian government.
This process began with talks between Syrian interim Foreign Minister Asad Shaibani and US Assistant Secretary of State for Far Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers of the so-called pro-Syrian countries in Brussels on March 18, as revealed by Reuters.

Also, according to a report by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Sheibani also met with American officials during his April 30 trip to New York, but this news was not reported to the media, and even the US State Department spokesperson evaded answering this question. But the US president, with the mediation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, bypassed these diplomatic pleasantries and met with the Takfiri terrorist who had been the head of Al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch for many years.
America’s history of being a godfather to terrorist groups in the region
Of course, the deep ties between America and Takfiri groups have been discussed many times before, but this time these ties have been made completely clear, and an al-Qaeda member is holding an official meeting with the US President, mediated by Saudi Arabia.
Former US Secretary of State John Kerry also admitted in an audio file that the US government allowed ISIS to spread in Syria in order to use it as a tool to pressure Damascus and gain political concessions.
Former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, now the country’s Director of National Intelligence, asserted in 2019 that “the US government has directly provided weapons and funding to al-Qaeda in Syria.”
Former US Senator Richard Black revealed that Washington has directly supported groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria. He stated that the terrorist groups have been tools of the US proxy war in Syria.
The Washington Post also reported that with the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the United States, through the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), provided financial and logistical assistance to terrorist groups and supported them under the guise of “moderate opposition.”
UN reports over the past decade have also shown that the US has financed and armed the Nusra Front (al-Qaeda’s branch in Syria) through channels in Türkiye and Qatar.
But today, in the meeting between Trump and Jolani, mediated by Bin Salman, all the curtains fell down, and the US President and the Saudi Crown Prince, as countries that played a major role in the growth and strengthening of Takfiri groups in the Middle East, met with one of the world’s most important terrorists. A meeting that is reminiscent of gangsters meeting with the godfather in Hollywood movies after success in criminal activities.
