Moving with “extended throttle”; Iran wins the battle of fighter jets and missiles

Iran

PNN – In his latest book, which won an award at a prestigious literary festival in the country, an Italian author has meticulously analyzed the 12-day imposed war against Iran.

The Premio Bancarella is a prestigious literary festival in Italy, held in the town of Pontremoli since 1953. Its judges are independent booksellers, not critics or academics, and they choose the winner based on public popularity.

The award, which is inspired by the tradition of the Lunigiana’s travelling booksellers, is symbolised by a ceramic statue of a bookseller with a backpack. It also has editions such as Bancarlino (for teenagers), Bancarella Sport and Bancarella Culinary. Great writers such as Hemingway, Eco and Fallaci have been among the winners of this award.

This year’s festival featured the introduction of Alessandro Orsini’s latest book, “The Italian White House: Information Corruption in a Satellite State.” The festival’s president also held an in-depth interview with Orsini at a session held on July 25.

In this conversation, Orsini addressed current issues and pointed out the reasons for the Italian statesmen’s commitment to the United States, which is, in fact, the main focus of his new book.

He also went on to offer some views on the Iran-Israel war, a summary of which can be read below:

Conflict between Iran and Israel

Introduction:

What I have tried to do in my new book is to examine the consequences of Western participation in bombing operations in other countries. I have come across a consistent pattern, which I have divided into three stages:

The first stage, ecstasy and collective excitement

The second stage, the break from reality.

Stage Three: Reality Inversion (This pattern repeats itself over and over again)

In my book, I talked about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, but we also saw the same pattern recently in the war between Iran and Israel.

Iran-Israel War:

When the war between Iran and Israel began, what I call “fan syndrome” was immediately activated: a collective reaction similar to that of football fans. “We are stronger than them!” And as is often the case with football fans, if you question the strength of their team, they respond with anger and aggression.

The Italian media immediately said: “Israel is much more powerful than Iran.” Mass excitement, a break from reality, an inversion of reality.

But the truth was exactly the opposite. Because this war, which I call the “war of missiles and fighter jets,” created a situation in which Iran had a huge strategic advantage. If this war had lasted more than twelve days, Israel would have been brought to its knees and defeated by Iran without direct US intervention.

In fact, the US intervened on June 22. Israeli airstrikes had begun on June 13. Nine days later, Washington ordered an attack on Iran. Why? Because Israel was rapidly heading towards defeat.

Israel has a very layered air defense system: Iron Dome for short-range missiles, David’s Sling for medium-range missiles, Arrow 3 for ballistic missiles. In addition, it has two THAAD defense systems, Patriot systems, and at least five American destroyers equipped with Aegis technology.

However, on June 17, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing White House sources that Israel was running out of Arrow 3 missiles, which are vital for shooting down Iranian ballistic missiles. The damage inside Israel was mounting.

Iran initially attacked cautiously, using old missiles, fearing direct American intervention. But when it realized that Israel was running out of weapons, it increased the intensity and precision of its attacks. Trump intervened because he realized that Iran was not even fighting at full strength and was moving with the “handbrake on,” as the saying goes.

On June 13, the United States sent an aircraft carrier to the region. Two days later, it sent a second one “with maximum operational urgency.” Four days later, a third arrived. Israel does not even have an aircraft carrier.

Why did this war show Iran’s strategic superiority? Because in a war between missiles and fighter jets, Iran has the upper hand. If this battle had lasted even a month, Israel would have been defeated.
