PNN – A columnist for Russian state-run media outlet RIA Novosti said, referring to the US president’s recent threats that Donald Trump would never dare to attack Iran.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Petr Akupov, in an analysis titled “Trump at a crossroads: ending the war or starting a new one,” raised the question, “Does Trump really intend to attack?” and added: Trump may threaten, but the consequences of attacking Iran are already known.
The Russian analyst cited a full-scale war with direct US involvement, instability in the Middle East (a vital region for Washington), a skyrocketing oil price increase, and ultimately, Iran becoming a nuclear power as the consequences of such an action.
Akupov continued by asking, “Does Trump understand this?” and added: Definitely yes, and that is why he will never dare to attack Iran.
Referring to the US move to deploy several B-2 bombers to the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean, he added: This action came after Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries announced to the United States that they would not only not allow the use of their territory and airspace to attack the Islamic Republic, but also banned aerial refueling of American aircraft.

America did not dare to attack Iran even during the warmongering era.
Akupov clarified: Plans to attack Iran have been under consideration in the United States for decades, especially 20 years ago. After the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq (Iran’s neighbors), Washington was seriously considering the scenario of war with Iran.
The Russian state media report states: During the Obama era, the US tried to reach an agreement with Iran, which resulted in the “nuclear deal” and allowed Iran to monitor its nuclear program. During his first term, Trump canceled the agreement (it was a multilateral agreement, but the US withdrawal made it ineffective) and repeatedly threatened Iran. In addition to threats, he also issued practical measures, such as ordering the assassination of the famous Iranian general, Qassem Soleimani, in Baghdad.
The following claim is made in this article: Following these statements, a wave of rumors and media incitement began that an attack on Iran was indeed being planned. Anonymous Israeli officials claim that Trump may launch airstrikes on Iran (including nuclear facilities) within the next few weeks: From Israel’s perspective, with Trump in the White House, this is the best opportunity to resolve the Iran issue. Such a chance will not come again.
Why would an attack on Iran be catastrophic?
Akupov went on to ask the question, “Why would an attack on Iran be catastrophic?” and listed these reasons:
- Iran’s strong response: Any large-scale attack on Iran would open Pandora’s Box. Tehran would attack US bases in the region. That’s why Iran’s Arab neighbors don’t want to get involved in this war.
- Unforeseen consequences: Although Israel and the United States would be happy to weaken Iran (for example, after the possible fall of Assad or attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon), Iran has multiple ways to strike American bases, warships, and Israel itself.
- Closing the Strait of Hormuz: Iran could block this vital oil highway and cause the global energy market to collapse. Does the US really need such a disaster?
Will attacking Iran guarantee Israel’s security?
The Russian analyst continued to ask this question and answered: Absolutely not. Even if the US attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities, this will not only not destroy Iran’s nuclear program, but will also have the opposite effect. Iran, which is not currently officially pursuing nuclear weapons, will be forced to move towards producing a nuclear bomb in order to defend itself.
The report continues: Ali Larijani, advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader and prominent political figure, warned last Wednesday that if the US or Israel attack Iran under the pretext of the nuclear issue, we will have no choice but to move towards producing nuclear weapons.
