PNN – The 34th Arab League summit was held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. This summit, which is being held in Baghdad after 13 years, is considered a great achievement for the new government of the country, regardless of the level of participation of the countries in this summit.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the 34th Arab League summit is being held in Iraq, even though Iraq had prepared to hold such a summit months ago.
This is the first time since 2012 that Baghdad has hosted an Arab summit; the last Arab summit was held in Baghdad in 2012.
The Iraqi government has already sent invitations to the heads of Arab countries to participate in the Arab League summit.
Placards and billboards were placed in the city’s main squares to this end, welcoming guests to attend the meeting.
This meeting, which is being held under the slogan “Dialogue, Solidarity, and Development,” is important for Iraq from various aspects, including economic, social, and cultural, with its political aspect dominating other aspects.
In this regard, Iraq has taken special security measures to successfully hold this meeting, so that it can be held without any security flaws and in a peaceful and safe atmosphere.
The Iraqi government, whose country is one of the founders and founders of this union, is trying to strengthen and consolidate Iraq’s position and its important and pivotal role in regional equations by holding this summit, and has made every effort to successfully hold this summit.
Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Hisham Al-Alawi said in this regard: Iraq is trying to use the opportunity of holding this summit in Baghdad to highlight the positive developments in recent years in Iraq and give guests the opportunity to visit Baghdad’s cultural, civilizational, historical and religious attractions.
He said that the government is seeking to increase investments from Arab countries in Iraq to develop various sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, industry, tourism, and the financial and banking sectors.
Although holding this summit is important for the Iraqi government in various aspects, simply holding it in a safe environment is considered an achievement for the Iraqi government, a point that Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized: The mere holding of this meeting is a victory for Iraq, and it will show the outside world that Baghdad is safe and welcoming to all.
This meeting is being held at a time when developments in Palestine, the Gaza war, and the Zionist crimes in Palestine and Lebanon have cast a shadow over the summit.
In addition, developments in Syria will also be one of the main topics discussed at this meeting, which is why Golani’s presence or absence at this meeting created a lot of noise in the political atmosphere inside Iraq.
Despite much speculation about whether or not al-Jolani would attend the Baghdad meeting, Asaad al-Shaibani, the Foreign Minister of al-Jolani’s government, attended the meeting as Syria’s representative.
Syrian Interim Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani welcomed the lifting of sanctions against Syria at the 34th Arab League summit today, calling it an important step towards the country’s recovery and reconstruction. He also stressed that any plan that would weaken the Syrian government or dismember part of its territory is “rejected.”
