The 26th year of Pakistan’s nuclear test; Islamabad protesting the monopoly of the West in the nuclear industry

PNN – Pakistan, Iran’s eastern neighbor, which is experiencing its 26th year of nuclearization, despite many efforts to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), is still closed and has repeatedly protested the discriminatory behavior of the West against Pakistan’s nuclear programs.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, 26 years ago on this day, by conducting the first successful nuclear test, Pakistan joined the list of countries possessing nuclear weapons and after India, it was included in this list.

This important day in the history of Pakistan is named Takbeer Day and the celebration of this day is carried out every year by the government of Pakistan as one of the most important and fateful days of this country, by issuing messages from the highest authorities. Pakistan is the only Muslim country with a nuclear bomb. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced Khordad 8 as an official holiday in the country today to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the atomic bomb of this country.

Abdul Qadir Khan, the late Pakistani nuclear scientist known as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb” who founded Pakistan’s uranium enrichment program, has died at the age of 86. He had been under surveillance since 2004 due to some security concerns, and the security institutions of this country had limited his visibility, visits and presence in social circles due to the fear of possible danger to the life of this Pakistani scientist.

Nearly 3 decades have passed since Pakistan’s nuclear test, but this neighboring country of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been accused by the West, especially the United States, of mismanagement in ensuring the security of nuclear arsenals. Rejecting these accusations, Islamabad emphasizes that it will not compromise on its nuclear and missile programs at any cost.

Pakistanis have objected to what they call the double, discriminatory and monopolistic behavior of the West, led by the United States, in the discussion of participation in the nuclear industry, and especially the obstruction of Islamabad’s accession to the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

Pakistan made a formal request to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group eight years ago and considers any political view of this category to be detrimental to the credibility of the non-proliferation regime.

Nuclear Material Suppliers Group was formed after India’s first nuclear test. The purpose of forming this group, which currently has 48 countries as members, is to provide nuclear materials needed by countries with peaceful purposes. Although all member states are signatories of the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty). But Pakistan, along with India, which has been applying to join this group for a long time, believe that membership in the NPT is not a requirement for membership in the group of nuclear material suppliers.

Pakistan and India have not signed the NPT. Meanwhile, various sources estimate Pakistan’s nuclear assets to be 120 nuclear warheads.

Vice President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif said today in messages on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the atomic bomb in Pakistan: Rosh Takbeer is the story of the difficult and yet important journey of the people of Pakistan, which makes it possible to create a minimum credible deterrence for the country.

They emphasized: This important day is a symbol of the collective effort of all aspects of national power in Pakistan to overcome an insurmountable challenge and achieve a turning point in the country’s defense power.

The heads of the armed forces of Pakistan also said in their joint message today: The historic achievement of Pakistan’s nuclear tests in 1998 led to the success of creating minimal deterrence and returning the balance of power in the region.

They emphasized: The armed forces of Pakistan once again emphasize their unwavering determination to defend the motherland, protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensure the country’s security at any time and at any cost.

In 1998, Pakistan conducted a nuclear test in response to India’s actions. Islamabad has several series of nuclear and ballistic missiles. This South Asian country hosted Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

At the same time, America and some of its western allies are always blamed by Pakistan for putting pressure on its nuclear and missile programs.
