PNN – The Guardian newspaper recently revealed the presence of officials of the main humanitarian aid agency in the United States in daily meetings based in the Zionist military base, which is the location of a notorious prison; this issue shows that the Americans are aware of the torture of Palestinian prisoners and their inaction to prevent it.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Guardian wrote: Officials from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) attend meetings at an Israeli army base that also hosts a notorious prison for Palestinian detainees, where torture is said to be widespread.
The Guardian, citing three USAID officials, wrote: Israel’s Humanitarian Aid Center (Regime) started working on July 29 with the regular presence of American officials at the Sde Teiman desert military base.
Claiming that USAID’s duty is to facilitate immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza, the Guardian added: The Sedi Timan military base was established as a temporary center to hold Gaza detainees after the attacks of October 7 (Al-Aqsa storm) and the start of the war.
Human rights groups and detainees released from prisons based in this base say that thousands of Palestinians held there have been subjected to severe abuse and torture.
In July, Israel approved mechanisms for approving aid operations in Gaza, which have been merged into one body, the Joint Coordination Board (JCB), the Guardian wrote. This institution is based in Sadi Timan base and carries out support operations in coordination with the United States, the United Nations and some other international non-governmental organizations.
Sources revealing this news, who asked not to be named, told the Guardian that two USAID officials attend daily meetings of the Joint Coordination Board with the presence of Zionist and UN officials at this base.
This English newspaper wrote that the Zionist army confirmed the location of this coordination center, but did not answer the questions of this media about the said prison.
Human rights groups, whistleblowers and prisoners released from this prison have confirmed that Zionist soldiers raid the prison, beatings and torture through electrocution and force feeding are common there. A Zionist doctor who worked in this place also reported that Palestinian prisoners are usually forced to amputate their hands and feet due to long handcuffs.
The American newspaper New York Times announced last May that the number of Palestinian prisoners since the October 7 attack was 4,000, and at least 35 of them died either in this place or in nearby hospitals.
Khaled Mahajneh, a lawyer who visited Sedi Timan prison, told +972 magazine that the conditions in this prison are far more terrible than what we have heard about Abu Ghraib prison or Guantanamo.
A USAID official told The Guardian that Israel’s military has weakened coordination with UN humanitarian organizations over the past year, and the relocation of the Joint Coordination Board to the Sedi Timan base is a reflection of this move by them.
