The prospect of the uprising of the zealous Syrian youth against the “Al-Jolani” regime

PNN – Future developments will show that the zealous Syrian youth have not remained silent in the face of internal weaknesses and external aggression and are capable of changing the equations on the ground.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, On Thursday, March 6, 2025, some local media in Syria announced that Resistance forces in coastal areas ambushed the forces of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and killed at least 5 of them. After this incident, armed clashes in Latakia, Tartus and Homs reached their highest level. During these clashes, resistance forces took control of some barracks, checkpoints, and government centers. They were also able to capture some Takfiri elements.

On the other hand, elements under Jolani’s command adopted a policy of killing in Latakia and the Alawite village of Jabla. These mercenaries began to impose martial law from 10 am to 10 pm. The “Shahin” drone brigade, with Turkish support, became a tool for suppressing Syrian protesters, and the use of this weapon quickly spread throughout Syria. According to Al-Arabiya, forces under the command of Jolani traveled from Idlib and Damascus to western Syria in order to regain control of the region’s affairs.

Some analysts believe that the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham may have decided to suppress the Alawites after failing to deal with the Kurdish and Druze minorities in order to maintain its access to the Mediterranean Sea. There is also the possibility that the Takfiri propaganda is abusing the current situation to define an “internal enemy” to cover up weaknesses and create artificial alliances.

Syrian people’s frustration with the terrorist government

The Syrian nation-state is one of the constructed political systems that emerged under the influence of the lines drawn by Sykes-Picot in the heart of the Arab East. Since the early days of the country’s establishment under the French mandate, a “majority-minority” divide has existed in this region. The lack of a natural state in this geographical area has always provided the opportunity for regional and trans-regional actors to gain significant influence in all or part of Syria. The establishment of the Baath regime had prevented much of the foreign interference and enabled the country to gain significant influence in its surrounding environment, especially Lebanon, Jordan, and occupied Palestine. Today, however, Syria is practically struggling with the risk of disintegration, and the upcoming events could change the map of this Arab country once and for all!

The failure of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham to confront territorial threats, while continuing economic problems and the lack of serious opening up in the sanctions case, have led ordinary people to soon protest and demand that the new rulers of Damascus be held accountable.

At the same time, on the eastern borders, nearly one-fifth of Syria’s territory is still under the control of the “SDF”. In such circumstances, the masses of ordinary people decided to take to the streets and demand their demands in the square. On the other hand, the government of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, aware of its inability to fulfill a significant part of the promises made, sees no option other than widespread repression of the people. This is while Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has promised to invest $20 billion in Syria, and the Turks have also used a significant part of their economic and logistical power in Syria to help stabilize the Golani government. Recently, a Turkish floating power plant was sent to the coast of Syria to increase public satisfaction with the new government by connecting it to the Arab country’s electricity grid!

At the same time, the European Union lifted some sanctions imposed on Syria to show its support for the new rulers of Damascus and reassure the Syrian public that a better future awaits them than the past! Saudi Arabia and other countries also hosted the leader of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Meanwhile, Riyadh has promised to supply oil to Syrian refineries. Despite foreign support for the Golani regime, it seems that ordinary people still have not received a proper response to their economic and security concerns and are waiting for serious action to fulfill their demands.

Perspective

The success or failure of the Alawite uprising in Syria’s coastal regions depends on the reaction or lack of reaction of the Kurdish, Druze, and Christian minorities. Against the “centrists of Damascus,” the Syrian minorities seek to restore a “federal system” throughout Syria. In this situation on the ground, any kind of coordination among Syrian minorities will increase their chances of success in the medium term. If the minorities located on the borders of Syria are to be able to receive more concessions during the “national dialogue” or the “Constitutional Council” or if they want to gain a significant degree of political or military independence in the field, they have no choice but to unite and coordinate.

Benefit of speech

Despite the continuous efforts of Western-Arab governments to demonstrate the return of stability to Syria, this Arab country has lost its integrity more than ever and is prone to losing its territories due to intense regional-international competition. In recent weeks, the “Sweida Military Council” has managed to drive the remnants of the Golani forces from the province and call for “autonomy.” Now, we must wait and see to what extent the Jolani government will be able to restore its control over the eastern and southern regions of Syria during this internal struggle. Whatever the outcome, future developments will show that the zealous Syrian youth have not remained silent in the face of internal weaknesses and external aggression and are capable of changing the equations on the ground.
