According to the report of the International group of Pakistan News Network, the continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes against the oppressed people of Palestine is being carefully followed and monitored by the Muslim people of Turkey.
Of course, there are differences between the positions of ordinary citizens and government officials. Because Turkish citizens often have strong positions against the Zionist regime and support the Palestinians. However, Erdogan’s government has moderate positions and sometimes, in a reformist way, it limits itself to expressing criticisms at a particular level. Some elites and analysts close to the government also have strong positions on Israel, which are not unrelated to the internal goals of the Justice and Development Party and the elections in the next few months.
These days, on the front page of all newspapers printed in Ankara, the first photo and headline are devoted to expressing the oppression of the people of Gaza and the crimes of Israel.
Esmail Qalich Arslan, one of the analysts of Yeni Shafaq newspaper and one of the people close to the main team of Justice and Development Party, proposed the establishment of Lashkar Islam.
He believes that as soon as possible, an army should be established with the initiative and scouting of Turkey and with the presence of soldiers from the armies of all the countries of the Islamic world and fight against Israel.
Meanwhile, Professor Yasin Aktai, a sociologist of Arab descent from Turkey and one of Erdogan’s advisers, believes that the Zionist regime is slowly sinking and before it sinks into the water, it will destroy its comrades and countries.
He specifically mentioned America and the European Union as comrades who will sink together with Israel. Most TV channels and newspapers close to the Justice and Development Party also portray Israel as a criminal. But the point is that the Justice and Development Party and Erdogan’s government have refused to take serious and decisive positions against the Zionist regime and continue to talk about negotiations and political solutions.
However, when it comes to political and economic expediency and interests in front of the United States and the European Union, it flexes its positions. All this while recently, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan considered America and the West as liars and criticized them in the Palestinian case.
What does Fidan say exactly?
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Erdoğan’s cabinet, as the head of Turkey’s intelligence service, has acted as a mediator between the Palestinians and the Zionist regime many times and has a deep knowledge of the Palestinian case.
He recently proposed the idea of appointing regional peacekeepers. Hakan Fidan demanded that Turkey, Egypt and several other countries, as guarantors and protectors of peace, send their forces to the occupied territories and before that a ceasefire be declared. But no one welcomed this idea. Now, Hakan Fidan has criticized Western countries before leaving for Cairo to attend the meeting of heads of state regarding the situation in Gaza.
Hakan Fidan said: “The West is lying both to itself and to the world about the Palestinian issue. But the problem is that a serious system cannot be established on that lie. As we see, violence and bloodshed continue. There is a contradiction in the political approach of the West regarding Ukraine and Palestine. He is ready to support the oppressed in the case of Ukraine, but he acts differently in Palestine.”
Hakan Fidan continues: “The Palestinian issue is an important issue for us. This is a historical and human case that has gone through different stages and the latest tragic crisis that started really worries us. We remember well the previous sieges of Gaza in 2009 and 2014. At that time, I was part of the team that worked on the mediation negotiations and other related issues on the orders of the President and the Prime Minister. The attacks of Hamas, which started on October 7, were actually a proof of the incorrectness of Israel’s policy in the region, especially in the last 10 years. The weaknesses of Israel’s national security system were revealed and showed that the owner of a failed project.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey continued to make contradictory statements about Israel and said: “As Turkey, from the beginning, we considered it a strategic mistake for Israel to normalize and make peace with others, but a two-state solution with the Palestinians. But America and Europe supported this wrong policy. We knew this crisis would erupt somewhere. Because although some things seem to be progressing with the Abrahamic Pact, we have seen that the oppression of the Palestinians, who are the main side of the issue, has become more and more systematic and widespread. It was clear that this gunpowder warehouse would explode somewhere.
The minister of foreign affairs of the cabinet also pointed out that this crisis is different from the previous crisis because the Israeli regime is looking for a big revenge. The defeats Israel suffered on October 7 are the biggest blows it has ever suffered. However, America and some countries do not act with a strategic mind. The issue of supporting the state of Israel, which has become a metaphysical belief, is often the biggest obstacle for American politicians to follow a rational policy.
Fidan also said about Egypt’s positions: “Egyptians do not want people to leave Gaza and become displaced in Egypt. That’s why they want help. Because what Israel wants is to remove more civilians from Gaza and make military operations easier in the rest of the country. Now, of course, this is not a situation that Egypt will accept. When I was in Cairo, we said that we support Egypt in this matter. Because we see that Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon in the region are facing the problem of instability in addition to the problem of Gaza. As Turkey, we declare our opposition to destabilizing these countries.
In the end, Hakan Fidan pointed out that Turkey is trying to open a humanitarian corridor with the help of Qatar.
The important thing about the Turkish Foreign Minister’s statements is that he made these criticisms right when America did not accept Turkey’s proposal to establish a group of peace guarantors. In addition, Hakan Fidan was the main helmsman of the process of normalizing relations between Turkey and the Zionist regime, and as a result, it can be well understood how pragmatic his and the Turkish diplomacy’s attitude towards Palestine is.
