The tragedy of the famine in Gaza; the most heinous crime of hunger in modern times

PNN – The hunger crisis in Gaza, which was created with the participation of the United States and the Zionist regime, has resulted in the most horrific humanitarian disaster in modern history.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Al Jazeera News Network reported on the severe famine in Gaza, which is threatening the lives of many men, women, and children in this war-torn region, and wrote: In Gaza, the only thing that exists now is hunger and extreme heat, and despite successive warnings from domestic and international institutions, especially UNICEF, that more than half a million Gaza residents are entering the fifth stage of the famine disaster in Gaza, this process continues.

According to the report, the number of deaths from hunger in Gaza has now reached more than 900. This is in addition to the thousands of people who have lost their lives in search of food as a result of the brutal Zionist attack.

Currently, more than 71,000 people are at risk of dying from hunger and need urgent medical and food assistance to treat their severe malnutrition.

Despite the dangers posed by Zionist attacks on lines of people waiting to receive humanitarian aid, large numbers of people attend the distribution centers due to hunger in Gaza, and Israel targets them with light and heavy weapons. In Gaza, some people are martyred by missile attacks, others are killed on their way to get a bite of bread, and some are killed by people fleeing as a result of Zionist attacks.

Al Jazeera adds that the Israeli regime has become accustomed to attacking food distribution centers in Gaza, turning them into death traps for people who come to these areas to receive food despite the great risks.

According to UNICEF, more than 470,000 people in Gaza are facing acute hunger and are struggling at the bottom of the five stages of food security. Meanwhile, the World Food Program emphasizes in its report that 71 children in Gaza need urgent treatment for malnutrition. This number is in addition to the 17,000 women living in Gaza who suffer from the same problem.

These are just some of the statistics on the famine in Gaza. UNICEF emphasizes in its report that the escalating military operations, the all-out blockade and the severe shortage of essential life-saving assistance have pushed the levels of food insecurity and severe malnutrition in Gaza to unprecedented levels in recent months.

On the other hand, Gaza hospitals cannot accommodate the large number of malnourished and injured people as a result of Zionist attacks, as well as the sick and elderly.

The Shroud Crisis in Gaza

In another report, Al Jazeera reports on the crisis in providing shrouds for the martyrs of the Zionist regime’s crimes and the problem with the morgues, writing that the morgues in Gaza will cease to function if they do not receive shrouds, bags, and basic necessities within the next five days.

The Israeli regime has not allowed the necessary equipment for burials to enter since last February. Aslih, an employee who has been working in this sector on a voluntary basis since 2009, says that these are the most difficult conditions he has faced in the past 19 years.

He adds that the Nasser Medical Complex morgue receives between 35 and 100 bodies of martyrs daily. He adds: We do not have the capacity to accept this large number of martyrs, in addition to the natural deaths that occur in Gaza. Therefore, we are forced to use old and worn-out cloths and coverings instead of shrouds.

The analytical news website Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed also reported that Gaza residents and international organizations complained about the complete collapse of the nutrition process in the region, which has led to a crazy increase in the cost of food. The World Food Program announced in early July that the price of flour in Gaza has increased by 3,000 times compared to before the Zionist regime’s genocide in the region began in October 2023.

World Food Program Director Carl Skav says this is the worst situation he has faced in his lifetime. He says that people are living in a state of absolute hunger, with humanitarian aid shipments lined up just a few meters behind the border. The Israeli regime has imposed a severe blockade on Gaza since March 2, preventing food from entering the region.

Doctors without Borders has said that the level of malnutrition in Gaza is unprecedented in the world. Malnutrition among pregnant women and a lack of health infrastructure are leading to premature births, and intensive care units in hospitals are so overcrowded that four or five sick children sleep on one bed.
