PNN – While listing the opportunities and threats of Hamas’ direct negotiations with the United States, Al Jazeera Network announced that Hamas’ recent military achievements have strengthened the group’s position in the negotiations.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, sources in the Palestinian Islamic Movement, in an interesting initiative, are reporting on the pursuit of advanced and direct negotiations with the US government regarding a ceasefire in Gaza. This announcement came at a time when there have been many doubts about the Israeli government’s willingness to reach a ceasefire in Gaza following months of Israeli aggression and continued fruitless negotiations.
A Hamas leader has announced that these negotiations began a few days ago and include the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and the cessation of military operations.
Israeli and American sources announce that the trip of Steve Whittaker, Washington’s envoy to the Middle East, is to coordinate with the Israeli regime, Qatar, and Egypt, and that he will expand his efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza during this trip.
This news comes at a time when Israeli media outlets have claimed that US President Donald Trump has severed ties with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump’s credibility is tested by negotiating with Hamas
Douglas Bando, a senior expert at the Quito Defense Academy, told Al Jazeera that the Trump administration knows very well that Netanyahu will not accept any agreement that does not take into account the regime’s conditions, but nevertheless has undertaken these negotiations.
Bando adds that any retreat by Washington against Netanyahu could seriously damage Trump’s credibility, at a time when he is trying to portray himself as independent of Israeli pressure.

Why are the Zionists angry about the Hamas-US talks?
Dr. Muhannad Mustafa, an expert on Israeli issues, also believes that Netanyahu’s statements about the “decisive days” indicate the great pressure that is being placed on his cabinet regarding the ceasefire.
He believes that Netanyahu is under pressure domestically and internationally, especially in a situation where the Israeli regime has failed to achieve its desired goals for many months despite starving and escalating tensions in Gaza.
Mustafa adds that the new proposals of the American mediator are said to be less stringent than the Zionist regime’s plans, but they could nevertheless severely threaten the future of Netanyahu’s cabinet, which is itself subject to disagreements among its elements.
He emphasizes that any ceasefire that does not fit the extreme right-wing approaches of the occupied territories could accelerate the collapse of Israel’s ruling coalition, and this has led to Netanyahu and Zionist leaders taking a harsh stance against the Hamas-US negotiations.
Yair Golan, the head of the Zionist Democratic Party, also said that the release of Israeli-American prisoner Aidan Alexander, in the form of an agreement that is reached without Netanyahu’s participation, will end the families’ nightmare.
The Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth also wrote, quoting families of Zionist prisoners in Gaza, that Netanyahu’s illusions must be abandoned, because war will not return Israeli prisoners.
Emphasizing that “it has become clear that Tel Aviv played no role in the return of Israeli prisoners,” they added that Israel must immediately end the war in the Gaza Strip and return all prisoners.
Hamas’ commitment to its ceasefire demands
Ahmed Al-Hilliyyah, another writer and political analyst, said in an interview with Al Jazeera that Hamas has so far adhered to its clear principles based on the necessity of a ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupiers, and the lifting of the siege on Gaza, and rejects any plan to disarm the resistance or humiliate the Palestinian people.
He considered the plan for direct negotiations with the United States useful, but at the same time emphasized that there is no guarantee of its success, because the Zionist regime continues to display strange stubbornness in the shadow of the deep internal divide among its elements.
The upper hand of the resistance in negotiations
On the other hand, Faez Al-Duwairi, an expert on military and strategic issues, believes that the conditions on the ground in Gaza are a powerful lever of pressure in favor of the resistance and give Hamas more power to negotiate with the US government.
He noted that Hamas’ operations, especially in Rafah and Beit Hanoun, have strengthened its negotiating position and forced Washington to make new proposals that were not previously on the table. He also warned against vague details of any agreement that could be an ambush for the resistance.
