Brazil: Aid to Gaza is not enough/there is a risk of the crisis spreading to other parts of the region

The foreign minister of Brazil, whose country is in charge of the UN Security Council this October, also presented a resolution for “humanitarian pauses” in the middle of the conflicts between the Palestinian and Israeli resistance groups, but faced the veto of the United States: I demand the unconditional release of all civilian hostages in Gaza. The escalation of violence in Gaza is unacceptable and we also oppose the destruction of infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Minister of Brazil added: The aid to the Gaza Strip is not enough to meet the needs of the residents of this area. All parties to the conflict in Gaza must adhere to the principles of international humanitarian law.

He stated: It is unfortunate that there is no progress in the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis. The number of trucks that have crossed the Rafah border is not enough to meet the needs of Gaza. The continued occupation of the West Bank weakens the way to create two countries.

Brazil’s foreign minister said: Israel must stop all its settlement activities, including in East Jerusalem. There is a risk of the Gaza crisis spreading to other parts of the region.

The Interim Chairman of the Security Council emphasized: The Security Council should not forget its responsibility in freeing the hostages and delivering aid to Gaza.

The Foreign Minister of Brazil emphasized: Violence in Gaza must end, a ceasefire must be established, humanitarian corridors must be provided, and the two-state solution must be realized.

According to IRNA from New York, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also said at the UN Security Council meeting about developments in the Middle East and Palestine: Bombing schools, mosques and churches and destroying them on civilians is not called self-defense.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister stressed: We must try to make this war the last war against Gaza. The occupation must end and a just and inclusive peace based on the two-state solution be established.

Safadi added: It seems that “Israel” is beyond international laws and violates them without restraint and ignores the resolutions of the Security Council.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister stated: The Security Council did not request a ceasefire even in the current Israeli war against Gaza, which kills 14 Palestinian civilians every hour.

This senior Jordanian official continued: According to the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, any attempt to relocate Palestinians inside or outside their occupied land is a war crime.

He said: Let the Security Council take a clear position today to assure about two billion Arabs and Muslims that international laws are applied without discrimination and selection. Either the Security Council succeeds in creating justice and peace, or the one who says that Israel has rights that no one else has.
