What solutions does America have to defeat China in the field of artificial intelligence?

PNN – The “Middle East Institute” has presented solutions to the White House to defeat China in the field of artificial intelligence with the help of the Arab countries of the Middle East.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this American think tank has given an extensive report on “the role of the Middle East in the competition between the United States and China for supremacy in the field of artificial intelligence”. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a major focus of global innovation, and the United States is at the forefront of developing this transformative technology while competing with China.

However, the authors of the report believe there is a significant concern that the lack of a clear concept of superiority in this area could threaten the long-term US AI strategy. It is traditionally difficult to define the concept of superiority of artificial intelligence. Different interpretations of competition or competition over artificial intelligence are proposed.

There are different kinds of power associated with AI superiority—including technical, commercial, defense, political, and geopolitical—and the United States is trying to influence China’s access to advanced semiconductors and designs through export controls, and prevent Beijing from progressing toward self-sufficiency.

Among the main objectives of this report are five recommendations to improve the strategy of the United States to gain an advantage against China. These recommendations include the following: (1) Targeting federal funding for basic AI research. (2) Federal support for STEM education and vocational training. (3) Federal support for commercialization. (4) Establishing an active and multilateral export control regime and (5) laying the groundwork for US leadership in global AI governance.

The report is titled: Artificial intelligence competition has attracted actors from the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, in particular, are pursuing the development of indigenous artificial intelligence ecosystems, each seeking to gain an upper hand in the region and have invested in this goal.

According to the report, while the dynamic between the United States and China in this area is of particular importance, the strategic investments and collaborations of Middle Eastern players—especially the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia—reveal the multipolar dimensions of AI competition. As the AI race continues, embracing this multipolar perspective will enrich understanding of AI’s complex geopolitical landscape. The goal of this process is to more clearly link US resources to the multifaceted needs for AI excellence and maintain leadership in this field.

At the end of this report, it is recommended to the US government: Policymakers should take immediate steps to exploit the US’s comparative advantage in AI competition with China, as well as work more closely with potential pioneers in the Middle East.
