Which countries are important for Russia’s sanctioned economy?

PNN – In a report, the Business Insider website introduced five important countries for Russia’s sanctioned economy.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this media clarified that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be under heavy anti-Russian sanctions and face extensive trade restrictions in running the country, but he still has friends looking to connect with Moscow.

Meanwhile, some countries that consider themselves friends and allies of Russia are not necessarily rivals or enemies of America. For example, two countries, India and Vietnam, while having good relations with Moscow, are also connected with Western countries.

In an interview with Business Insider, Sean McPheet, military strategist and author of the book “New Rules of War”, said that Putin’s eyes are on countries like India; Because India is an opponent of China, but at the same time it has successful business relations with Moscow.

He added that Moscow is also trying to get out of diplomatic isolation and establish strategic relations, beyond the relations with its usual partners, namely China, North Korea and Iran.

In the continuation of its report, Business Insider introduced the 5 countries China, India, Brazil, Turkey and Kazakhstan as the most important countries for Russia in the sanctioned economy.

India

While China’s relations with Russia are based on their opposition and enmity with Western countries, the relations between Moscow and India are more different.

New Delhi has become closer to the United States in recent years.

As the world’s most populous democracy, India is also considered a member of the quadrilateral security dialogue. America, Japan and Australia are also members of this security pact.

At the same time, India has become one of Russia’s main trading partners after Moscow faced extensive sanctions and diverted its trade away from Europe.

Evidence suggests that Russia’s relations with India date back to the Cold War era, and trade between Moscow and Delhi has increased since Russia launched special military operations in Ukraine.

Brazil

Russia and Brazil supply each other’s needs and thus have mutually beneficial relations.

In recent years, Brazil’s membership in BRICS has made this country more important to Russia than before.

Türkiye

Russia is one of Turkey’s largest trading partners, so there are compelling reasons that Ankara seeks to maintain and deepen its relations with Russia.

A few months after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and at the same time as European countries refused to import Russian gas, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accepted Vladimir Putin’s proposal regarding the creation of a “natural gas hub”.

Turkey, as a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), has positioned itself as an intermediary between the West and Moscow since the beginning of the Ukraine war, brokering grain export contracts between Russia and Ukraine, and hosting peace talks between both sides declare their readiness.

Ankara has also expressed interest and hope to join the BRICS association, of which Russia is one of the main members.

Kazakhstan

Russia and Kazakhstan, former members of the Soviet Union, are now close trading partners, and their economic ties have deepened amid the Ukraine conflict.

In 2024, the volume of trade between the two countries will reach 27 billion dollars, an increase of almost 40% compared to 2019.
