PNN – Considering Jordan’s complete dependence on American economic aid, Washington has no restrictions on military and intelligence activities in Jordan, and in this context, it is possible to understand why Jordan is a part of the defense shield against the Zionist regime against the “Odea Sadegh” operation.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Jordan is one of the main partners of the United States in the West Asian region, which has deep political, economic and military relations with this country, and these relations have deepened in recent years from both military and economic aspects.
Since its formation in 1921 as a British protectorate and then independence from the British protectorate system in 1946, Jordan has been one of the countries of the western axis in the Arab region. This country expanded its relations with Washington during the period of increasing American presence and influence in the Middle East during the 1960s, and the main driver of these relations for the White House was Jordan’s strategic position in the occupied East of Palestine.

Although Jordan did not have oil like the countries of the Persian Gulf, but thanks to its presence on the east bank of the Jordan River in the period after the formation of the Zionist regime, it gained great importance in the equations related to the Palestinian conflict. Therefore, in order to ensure the security of the Zionist regime, the United States also strengthened its relations with Jordan in a special way.
Jordan’s relations with the United States expanded more rapidly during the period when Abdullah bin Hussein came to power, and Jordan played a role as the main partner of the United States in the Shamat region. At this time, Jordan’s position as a military and intelligence base of the United States was exploited in the midst of the occupation of Iraq, the war in Syria, etc. This military importance increased in the shadow of the formation of a coalition under the pretext of confronting ISIS, and the United States formalized its military relations with Jordan under the pretext of forming this coalition.
Before the formation of this coalition, there were reports and news about the American military and intelligence presence in Jordan to influence Syria, Iraq, and even Lebanon, but with the formation of the coalition under the pretext of countering ISIS, the United States took the project of establishing military bases in the north of Jordan seriously. In exchange for its military presence in Jordan, the United States pledged to provide 1.2 billion dollars in annual aid to the government of Amman, of which a part (about 500 million dollars) is military aid.
The same financial and economic dependence of Jordan led to the country’s weak position in interaction with the United States, and Washington did not have a difficult time persuading the Amman government to accept the 2021 military agreement. This military agreement, which formalized the presence of the American army in the Jordanian military bases in al-Zarqa and Al-Mafraq, and in addition to these clauses about exemption from any customs surveillance and inspection, complete freedom of action in intelligence and military activities, allowing allied countries to enter this base and practically handed over a part of its sovereignty to America.
