PNN – An American media outlet written by Yahya Sanwar has always moved one step ahead of the intelligence agencies and the Israeli army.
According to Pakistan News Network, an American media in a report quoting knowledgeable sources explained the failed efforts of the Israeli army and intelligence agencies to find Yahya Sanwar, the head of Hamas’s political office in the Gaza Strip.
NBC News wrote: “Where is Yahya Sanwar? In a situation where nearly four months have passed since the October 7 attack on Israel, this elusive leader of Hamas, who is believed to be the main designer of the said attack, was able to move one step ahead of the Israeli army and intelligence agencies.
Current and former Israeli officials have told NBC News that Israeli forces recently found cages that were kept underground in Khan Yunis. They have claimed that Sanwar and other Hamas leaders were probably sheltering somewhere near this place.
According to NBC, Hamas has made great efforts to keep the connections of Sanwar with the political leaders of this movement in Doha hidden and prevent it from being monitored by the Israeli intelligence agencies.
A Hamas political official told NBC that the organization is trying to protect Sanwar and other political leaders. He said: “I think this is the right way for any structure or any resistance movement to take. I am sure that it is the same in every country.
Israeli military commanders and current and former security officials of this regime say that Sanwar probably does not live in one place and constantly changes his location to avoid detection by the Israeli army.

According to NBC, this week the Israeli army besieged the city of Khan Yunis, which is the largest city in the south of Gaza. They suspect that Sanwar is hiding somewhere in the Hamas tunnel network under Gaza, but they do not rule out the possibility that he may have left through the tunnels and gone to Egypt.
Israel has offered to guarantee the safe departure of Yahya Sanwar and other Hamas leaders from Gaza in exchange for the release of all Israeli prisoners from Gaza, but informed sources say there is no sign of an imminent agreement on this matter.
A former Israeli official who has extensive experience in negotiations with the Palestinians expressed concern that such a possibility would become a reality. He said: “If he lives outside of Gaza, and if other Hamas leaders are monitored, and if Hamas plays a role in future agreements in Gaza, this will all add up to his victories on October 7.”
Two other former Israeli officials told NBC that Sanwar had three goals: his own survival, the continued survival of Hamas, and a role in the future of Gaza.
Another Israeli official said: “They carried out the October 7 operation as a step towards their goal.”
Israel’s failed efforts to locate Sanwar continue as several countries, including the United States, Qatar and Egypt, hold intense talks to end the conflict in Gaza.
Hamas calls the complete cessation of war in Gaza a condition for the release of all prisoners. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, rejected this proposal and said that such a proposal endangers the future of Israel and the lives of Israelis.
Jacob Nigel, who was Netanyahu’s internal security advisor between 2016 and 2017, predicted that Sanwar will never release all his prisoners. He said: “He will keep some hostages forever because it will be insurance for him that no one will kill him.”
Israeli officials from all spectrums and political currents agree on the issue that the war with Hamas should continue until this group is destroyed. Despite this, many analysts of the Palestinian and Israeli issues do not consider the realization of such a goal possible.
