PNN – The special representative of the United States, whose country caused war and unrest in the region during the past 2 decades by occupying Afghanistan, once again reiterated the claim of supporting Pakistan in the fight against terrorism in the region.
According to Pakistan News Network from Pakistani media, At the end of his two-day visit to Islamabad, Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan, said that he had important meetings and discussions with the foreign minister, the special representative for Afghanistan and the commander of the Pakistani army.
Asif Ali Khan Durrani, the special representative of the government of Pakistan for Afghanistan affairs, also published a photo of his meeting with Thomas West, and wrote that the parties discussed the current issues in Afghanistan and the international reactions to it in this meeting.
Thomas West also said about this meeting: A discussion was held with the Pakistani sides regarding the serious security challenges facing the country caused by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan group, regional issues and the protection of Afghan refugees.
The US special representative claimed that this country stands with Pakistan against terrorism in the region. Washington also appreciates the close relationship with Islamabad regarding issues related to refugee protection, including cooperation with international organizations and humane and dignified treatment of refugees.
While Washington’s special envoy to Islamabad claims to support the fight against terrorism in the region, Pakistan’s foreign ministry last week expressed regret over the US State Department’s annual report on terrorism, described its contents as contradictory and considered Washington’s claims against Islamabad to be an inversion of facts.
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources in Islamabad who are closely involved in Thomas West’s talks with Pakistan’s top political and security officials announced: The Pakistani side has informed the special envoy of the United States about the intensification of terrorist attacks by Tehreek-e-Taliban on Pakistan from across the borders and the effect of these events on Islamabad’s relations with the Afghan Taliban government.
The Pakistani Express Tribune newspaper quoted these sources and wrote: The senior American diplomat confirmed Pakistan’s point of view and said that such terrorist attacks cannot be tolerated from across Pakistan’s borders.
Pakistani officials stated that without Kabul’s decisive action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, there will be no improvement in the relations between the two countries.
