Bilawal Zardari: The escalation of tensions with Iran will not help the West

PNN – The head of the People’s Party and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, considered the hostile approach of the West towards the Islamic Republic of Iran as the cause of trade problems for Pakistan and negative effects in the region and warned that the escalation of tensions with Tehran will not help the West.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and the young son of the current president Asif Ali Zardari, explained his views on the future of Pakistan’s interactions with the US government, the situation in Afghanistan and developments in the Middle East during an interview on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

In the last government of Pakistan, he was the youngest politician in the history of his country, who was in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the direct question of the anchor of Deutsche Welle, he said: Pakistan’s current security challenges do not originate from Iran in any way, but are the result of the direct consequences of America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, which accelerated the movements of terrorist groups.

In response to the developments in the Middle East (the host’s implicit reference to the situation in Syria) and any concern of Islamabad or Tehran regarding the dangers of sectarian conflict, the head of the Pakistan People’s Party said: Such security challenges from militant groups have occurred due to the way Kabul fell.

He said: As far as Iran is concerned, it is our neighboring country, and because of the world’s conflict with it, not because of us, the people of Iran and Pakistan are not able to trade easily with each other.

The former foreign minister of Pakistan added: The conflict between the West and Iran has had negative effects in the region and we cannot interact economically and we are seeing its consequences in the form of unemployment and poverty in our borders.

In the end, he warned that the escalation of tension and conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran will not bring any benefit or help to the Western world.

Zardari warned about the negative consequences of the dual approach of the Americans in South Asia and disrupting the balance of power in the region and added: Islamabad can act as a bridge between Beijing and Washington.

He stated that US President Donald Trump is a deal maker and wants to play a role in establishing peace in the world, so Pakistan is also determined to play a role as a bridge and does not want to be in a particular block or camp.
