PNN: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved the development of a special employment exchange job portal and an integrated grievance redressal system aimed at providing better job opportunities and institutional support for persons with disabilities in the province.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House on Thursday. Speaking at the meeting, CM Shah stressed the importance of empowering persons with disabilities through technological advancements and institutional backing, calling it a fundamental element of the Sindh Employment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018. He said that ensuring the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the workforce and society was not just a policy, but a moral imperative.
The chief minister pointed out that the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018 was designed to protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, ensuring their full inclusion in social, educational, and professional spheres.
Under the Act, the Sindh government is committed to providing legal protection and equal opportunities, enabling persons with disabilities to participate independently and with dignity in society.
In line with the provisions of the Act, CM Shah stressed the establishment of special institutions and support systems, including the creation of a central database for persons with disabilities and the issuance of disability certificates.
He also highlighted several important provisions, such as a mandatory 5% job quota for persons with disabilities in all government departments, the implementation of inclusive educational policies, and awareness campaigns throughout the province.
“This law reflects Sindh’s commitment to rights-based governance and inclusive development. Empowering persons with disabilities is central to our social policy,” said CM Shah.
After detailed discussions, the chief minister approved a partnership with Sukkur IBA to develop a special job portal tailored for persons with disabilities. The portal will feature AI-based job matching and will be available in Sindhi, Urdu, and English to ensure accessibility for all.
The portal will also provide a direct connection between the Sindh government and persons with disabilities, improving transparency and merit-based recruitment in provincial departments.
