Armed forces carried out over 130 operations daily to fight terrorism, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said. He said over 32,000 intelligence-based operations this year, with 4,021 occurring in the past month alone, leading to the death of 90 terrorists. He highlighted the combined efforts of the Army, police, intelligence agencies, and other law enforcement bodies in these daily operations aimed at eradicating terrorism.
DG ISPR paid tribute to the 193 soldiers who have been martyred in the first eight months of 2024 and reassured that the fight against terrorism and extremist factions would persist until every last terrorist is eliminated. Lt Gen Ahmed also provided details on a major operation started on August 20 in the Tirah valley targeting the banned TTP and other outlawed groups such as Lashkar-i-Islam and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
Last month, Balochistan saw series of deadly attacks, leading to over 50 deaths, including 14 members of the security forces. Militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) targeted civilians, law enforcement agencies, and security forces.
