PNN: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has departed for China to co-chair the seventh round of the Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, scheduled to be held in Beijing on January 4, 2026, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.
The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and China’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue is the highest-level consultative mechanism between Pakistan and China, providing a structured forum to review the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest.
During the talks, the two foreign ministers are also expected to announce a series of initiatives and commemorative events to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China in 2026.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit forms part of ongoing high-level exchanges between the two countries and reflects their shared resolve to further strengthen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. It also underscores their mutual commitment to regional peace, stability and sustainable development.
Earlier, Dar met Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Monday afternoon to discuss matters of mutual interest. Ambassador Jiang conveyed seasonal greetings and best wishes for the New Year on behalf of Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
While reciprocating the greetings, Dar expressed appreciation for China’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national development. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for China on all core issues, including adherence to the One-China principle.
