KP CM Sohail Afridi announces Rs200bn Hazara development package

PNN: KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced a special development package worth Rs200 billion for Hazara Division.

The announcement was made during a meeting at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House with parliamentarians from Hazara Division, where detailed consultations were held on the preparation of the upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP).

During the meeting, participants urged the federal government to dualize the Haripur–Mansehra GT Road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the National Highway Authority. The chief minister said the provincial government would also provide financial assistance for the project to improve travel facilities for the public in Haripur and Mansehra.

Chief Minister Afridi directed that Rs50 billion from the total package be earmarked specifically for tourism-related projects. He also instructed lawmakers to hold a separate consultative session to propose development schemes for inclusion in the special package.

He further announced that a notification would be issued to upgrade Allai into a separate district. The chief minister said the next fiscal year’s development programme would be different from previous ones, with a focus on large-scale, public welfare projects and the timely completion of ongoing schemes.

Before finalising the ADP, PC-1 documents for development projects will be prepared, with special emphasis on underdeveloped districts of the province. The meeting was also attended by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Hazara Division.
