PNN: A high-level meeting of parliamentarians from Hazara Division was held at Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad under the chairmanship of CM KP Sohail Afridi.
The demand for the dualisation of the Haripur to Mansehra GT Road, which falls under the administrative control of the federal government and NHA, was put forward. The Chief Minister announced that the provincial government would provide financial support and extend full cooperation for the project in order to facilitate the public.
The meeting also thoroughly deliberated upon preparation of the upcoming Annual Development Programme, and a comprehensive review of the developmental needs of the division.
The Chief Minister announced formulation of a special comprehensive development package worth Rs200 billion for Hazara Division and directed that Rs50 billion from this package be specifically allocated for tourism related projects in order to fully harness the region’s potential, including its natural beauty and tourist destinations.
He directed that a separate consultative session be convened with parliamentarians for proposals of schemes to be included in the special development plan so that practical and sustainable projects could be designed in accordance with local needs and priorities.
The Chief Minister said that development planning for the next fiscal year would be distinct and more impactful than in the past, incorporating large scale and public importance projects. He stated that priority would be given to the prompt completion of ongoing schemes to translate development initiatives into tangible public relief.
He also announced that notification for granting district status to Allai would be issued to bring administrative affairs closer to the people and to improve service delivery at the local level.
Furthermore, he directed that all PC-1 documents for development projects be completed before finalizing the Annual Development Programme to ensure transparent and efficient utilization of resources.
The Chief Minister reiterated that significant investment would be made in the health and education sectors, and special focus would be given to backward districts of the province.
The Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and elected members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Hazara Division attended the meeting.
