Lahore High Court announces new judges’ roster for March–May

PNN: The Lahore High Court has announced a new roster for its judges, which will remain in effect for two months from March 2 to May 2.

The roster, approved by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, outlines the allocation of cases and the formation of various benches to hear different categories of appeals and cases during the period.

Under the new arrangement, nine division benches will function at the principal seat, while 27 judges will hear cases as single benches. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum will head a two-judge bench empowered to hear all types of appeals.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and Justice Javed Iqbal Venus will hear tax and commercial appeals. Cases related to the National Accountability Bureau, anti-terrorism matters and criminal appeals will be taken up by a bench consisting of Justice Shahbaz Rizvi and Justice Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar.

Civil appeals will be heard by a bench led by Justice Faisal Zaman Khan and Justice Chaudhry Iqbal, while murder and narcotics appeals will be dealt with by a bench comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry.

Separately, narcotics appeals will be heard by a bench headed by Justice Farooq Haider, while tax references will be taken up by a two-judge bench led by Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom and Justice Malik Awais Khalid.
