Karachi is currently witnessing a new spell of chilly weather after parts of the metropolis received showers this morning, Geo News reported on Friday.
This morning, various parts of the bustling metropolis experienced light showers. The areas receiving the downpour are II Chundrigar Road, Shahra-e-Faisal, Old City Area, MA Jinnah Road, Saddar, and neighboring localities.
The showers extended their embrace to Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Different areas of the city, including Super Highway, Nooriabad, Kathor, and their surroundings earlier received showers on Tuesday, as well.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier warned that snowfall over the upper parts of the country may affect transportation today so the tourists and locals of hilly areas were advised to be cautious.
Met officials said a westerly wave was affecting western and upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.
They predicted that cloudy weather with rain (snowfall over mountain) was expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Potohar region, Upper Punjab and Kashmir while heavy rainfall/snowfall was likely at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa during the period.
They added fog was likely at few places in Punjab and upper Sindh.
Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Garhi Dupatta, Kotli, Rawalpindi, Murree, Islamabad, Mangla, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Sialkot, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Chakwal, Narowal, Hafizabad, Khanpur, Sheikhupura, Attock, Joharabad, Dir, Kakul, Patan, Parachinar, Balakot, Charat, Drosh, Bacha Khan, Mir Khani, Chitral, Kalam, Peshawar, Saidu Sharif, Quaidabad, North Karachi, Kemari, Saadi Town, Nazimabad, Malir, Old Area (Airport), Masroor Base, Surjani Town, University Road, Faisal Base, Thatta and Ormara while snowfall was witnessed at Murree only.
Wednesday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped to -07°C while in Lahore it was 9.3°C and maximum was 22°C.
