Malaysian PM likely to visit Pakistan next month

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to visit Pakistan next month.

According to the media reports, Anwar Ibrahim’s visit is anticipated in the first week of October, accompanied by a high-level delegation from Malaysia.

This visit will be the first by a Malaysian Prime Minister to Pakistan in five years. Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad visited Pakistan in March 2019 during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, while this will be Anwar Ibrahim’s first visit to Pakistan.

Diplomatic sources indicate that the visit will involve signing several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries. Anwar Ibrahim will also hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other Pakistani leaders.

The visit is expected to focus on discussions regarding bilateral trade and investment, as well as a special emphasis on the Palestinian issue. Both countries support a two-state solution to the Palestinian conflict.
