Millions of Pakistanis attend Eid al-Fitr prayers with message of unity and defense of Palestine

PNN – Millions of Muslims in Pakistan, both Shiites and Sunnis, performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in mosques, religious places, and Hussainiyyas, demonstrating unity and integrity, and praying for the liberation of Palestine and the unity of the Islamic world.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Pakistani Muslims in various cities of the country, including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Skardu, Gilgit, Parachinar and Larkana, enthusiastically participated in the Eid al-Fitr prayers, known as “Sweet Eid”.

The country’s largest Eid al-Fitr prayer ceremony was held with the attendance of tens of thousands of people at the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad and the Shahi Mosque in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province. The Eid al-Fitr prayer was held in the city of Karachi with the attendance of thousands of Palestinian supporters, and the participants chanted slogans in support of Palestine and the people of Gaza.

Pakistani officials, in messages on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wished for internal unity and solidarity to overcome challenges, and emphasized strong support for the oppressed nations of the region, including the Palestinians.

In his message, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the continued crimes of the Israeli occupation regime in Gaza and said that we hope that with the blessings of Eid al-Fitr, our brothers and sisters in Palestine will achieve peace and tranquility.

According to this report, Iranian compatriots living in Pakistan also performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in various cities of the country, together with their religious brothers, at the mosque of the residential complex of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad and at Iranian cultural houses.

Pakistanis had been preparing for Eid al-Fitr (Sweet Eid) and holding widespread public celebrations since the last few days of Ramadan.

The Pakistani government also announced a three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday in the country, while people also use the days before and after the official holiday to be with their families and add to their vacation.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also sent messages congratulating their compatriots and Muslims around the world on Eid al-Fitr.

On the eve of Eid al-Fitr, religious leaders, Islamic groups, and religious parties called on the people of Pakistan to demonstrate unity, brotherhood, and integrity on the day of Eid al-Fitr against anti-Islamic elements and those who, by sowing the seeds of discord and sedition among Muslims, intend to misuse and oppose the manifest religion of Islam.

Eid al-Fitr is a historic event of special importance among Pakistani Muslims, both Shia and Sunni.

Streets, public and religious places, and educational and government institutions are decorated throughout Pakistan as Eid al-Fitr approaches, and Muslims wear new clothes and gather in mosques in their local areas.

With the announcement of official holidays in Pakistan, people are visiting and taking short trips to their hometowns and villages.

The Pakistani army and police have also taken special security measures to maintain peace during these days and prevent any incidents.
