PNN – Pakistani news media quoted security sources as saying that Islamabad’s airstrikes deep in Afghanistan destroyed several positions of the Pakistani Taliban and killed some of its elements. Islamabad’s move has sparked a strong reaction from the Afghan Taliban.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Pakistan’s diplomatic apparatus or military agencies have not officially confirmed any operation in Afghanistan, while local media quoted reliable Pakistani security sources as confirming the second attack on Afghan soil in the past year.
Pakistani news media reported that a number of key elements of the terrorist group were killed during a precise operation against Pakistani Taliban hideouts in Afghanistan. At least 30 members of the Pakistani Taliban were reportedly killed in the airstrike.

Contrary to claims by Pakistani security sources, Kabul has condemned the invasion of Afghanistan and said several civilians were killed in a Pakistani airstrike.
The Ministry of Defense of the caretaker government of the Afghan Taliban announced that it will not leave this act unanswered and considers the defense of its country’s territory to be its inalienable right.
The latest security developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan come as Islamabad’s special envoy visited Kabul on Monday to meet with Afghan government officials to ease tensions between the two countries.
If Pakistan officially confirms the airstrike in Afghanistan, it will be its second operation in the past year.
On March 18 this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan confirmed what it called the country’s special anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan.
