Pakistan Foreign Minister: Kashmir water issue threatens ceasefire with India

PNN – Pakistan’s foreign minister said that failure to resolve the water issue in Kashmir could threaten the ceasefire between Islamabad and New Delhi.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, in an interview with the American network CNN, Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, referring to the recent tension between India and Pakistan, stated that Islamabad had no choice but to defend itself after the Indian attacks.

Ishaq Dar stated that the nuclear option was never on the table.

He continued: The long-term negotiations with India have not ended, and we remain hopeful that logic will prevail in these negotiations.

In this televised interview, the Pakistani Foreign Minister noted that Pakistan was not involved in the April attack and that Islamabad condemns terrorism in all its forms.

He continued that the ceasefire is also under threat until a solution is found to the water problem in the Kashmir region, and failure to resolve the issue would be tantamount to an act of war.
