PNN – Regarding the agreements reached during the meeting between the foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced that both countries are committed to regional peace and stability and are determined to strengthen strategic relations and economic cooperation.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, from the public relations statement of the Office of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the head of the diplomatic service of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, in Islamabad today.
The statement said: The foreign ministers of the two countries renewed their commitment to strong relations between Iran and Pakistan and agreed to increase cooperation between them in the fields of trade, energy, and communications.
According to the statement, the Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed the sincere greetings of his country’s leaders to his Pakistani counterpart and emphasized Tehran’s desire to further deepen bilateral relations with Islamabad.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, while welcoming the Iranian delegation, highlighted the importance of the historical, cultural, and religious ties that unite the two neighboring nations.
He praised the positive trend in relations between the two neighboring countries and emphasized the need to expand cooperation in key areas including trade, energy, border security, and regional communications.
Stressing that his country has always condemned terrorism in all its forms, the Pakistani Foreign Minister emphasized Pakistan’s frontline role in the fight against terrorism and the significant sacrifices it has made in this fight.
They also exchanged views on the evolving situation in South Asia and the (indirect) US-Iran talks, and agreed that complex issues can be resolved through diplomacy and negotiation.
In this regard, Araqchi and Eshaq Dar appreciated each other’s constructive diplomatic efforts, which demonstrate their shared commitment to peace and stability in the region.
According to the statement, they also agreed to maintain the strong trend in Pakistan-Iran relations, including by maintaining increased high-level interactions.
According to the report, after meeting and negotiating with his Pakistani counterpart, Araqchi went to the Prime Minister’s Palace to meet with the country’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
He is also scheduled to meet with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari during his one-day visit to Islamabad.
