The ground-based air defence (GBAD) of Pakistan Navy demonstrated combat readiness via successful live weapon firing of FN-6 surface-to-air missiles (SAM) in Karachi, according to a statement issued by the Pakistan Navy on Wednesday.
During the impressive firepower demonstration, the PN’s GBAD system fired SAMs and successfully engaged the intended airborne targets, the statement added.
Commander Coast Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz graced the occasion as chief guest.
Later, Nawaz addressed the troops and appreciated the conduct of successful missile firing. He expressed complete satisfaction with the operational preparedness of the navy’s GBAD system.
He emphasised that the Pakistan Navy is fully prepared and capable of generating optimum response against any misadventure by the enemy.
Besides safeguarding the country’s maritime borders, the Pakistan Navy is also playing its role for regional security as it deployed its warship PNS ASLAT in the Indian Ocean to ensure the safety of merchant ships in May.
