PNN – The 85th anniversary of the adoption of the resolution establishing the state of Pakistan, known as “Pakistan Day”, was held in Islamabad with a military parade and an air show by its armed forces. During the ceremony, President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized his country’s standing with the oppressed Palestinian people and stated that he wanted friendly and beneficial relations with its neighbors and the international community.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Pakistan (March 23) held a military parade in Islamabad on the occasion of its National Day, attended by the President, Prime Minister, and the heads of the armed forces.
This event was held every year with a large military parade in Islamabad, but this year, due to the day’s coincidence with the holy month of Ramadan, a more limited ceremony was held in the grounds of the Pakistani Presidential Palace.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said: Our people stand side by side with our armed forces and have a common and strong resolve in the war against terrorism.
He added: Peace and stability are the main pillars of Pakistan’s foreign policy, and this country seeks friendly and beneficial relations with its neighbors as well as the international community.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine and Kashmir, Zardari said: Pakistan stands with the Palestinians and we demand that the international community end the genocide in Gaza.
The leaders of the Muslim League, the founding group of Pakistan in the subcontinent, led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, issued a resolution in Lahore 85 years ago on March 23, 1940, to establish an Islamic state in the region, which later became known as the “Pakistan Resolution.”
March 23rd has significance in Pakistan’s history; 69 years ago on this day (March 23, 1956), the first constitution of Pakistan was adopted, and based on it; the country’s name was changed from “Pakistan” to “Islamic Republic of Pakistan”.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad congratulated the government and people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan’s National Day in a statement.
The statement said: Based on the firm determination and will of the high-ranking officials of the two countries, Iran and Pakistan now enjoy excellent relations in all areas, based on the principles of Islamic brotherhood, good neighborliness, mutual respect, and friendship.
