Pakistan: We are committed to cooperation with Iran against terrorism

PNN – Regarding the recent meeting of the Special Security Committee with the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said: Our partnership is for peace and security at the borders and Islamabad is committed to close cooperation with Iranian friends against terrorism.

Mumtaz Zahra stated today (Thursday) in his weekly press conference in Islamabad: The establishment of military liaison officers exchanged between Iran and Pakistan in recent months is considered a positive development in bilateral cooperation.

Regarding the recent meeting of the 11th Iran-Pakistan Special Security Committee in Tehran, with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Interior of Pakistan, she said: We are committed to continuing cooperation with our friends in Iran to overcome the common threat of terrorism.

Mumtaz Zahra added: Pakistan fully adheres to the joint agreements with the Islamic Republic of Iran and our participation will be to strengthen security and peace in the common borders.

She emphasized: Iran and Pakistan’s strong fight against common threats, especially terrorism, will continue.

Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan

In another part of her speech, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed the recent operation against what he called the hideouts of the terrorist group Pakistani Taliban on Afghan soil, saying: We respect the sovereignty of Afghanistan and we believe in diplomacy and interaction with this neighboring country.

She emphasized: Pakistan’s operation was based on clear evidence and accurate information about the presence of terrorist elements, a group that was involved in many terrorist attacks against security forces and civilians inside Pakistan.

Mumtaz Zahra stated: Negotiations with Afghanistan are a priority and we believe in cooperation to overcome common threats, although Pakistan will not think about the security of its people.

She called the Pakistani Taliban a potential threat to regional peace and security and said he hoped Kabul would not allow terrorists to abuse Afghanistan’s territory against its neighbors.

According to this report, following Pakistan’s air attack on Afghanistan, Pakistan’s Chargé d’affaires was summoned to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, and Kabul’s strong protest was conveyed to him.
