Pakistani media claim: A commercial ship bound for Karachi was targeted in the Red Sea

PNN – A Pakistani media claimed (Wednesday) that a container ship that was traveling from the port of Saudi Arabia to the port of “Karachi” in the south of Pakistan was hit by a missile in the Red Sea.

According to Pakistan News Network, the news website of the English language newspaper “Express Tribune” announced the name of this ship as “United-8” and quoted the owner of the ship as saying: A container ship was attacked in the Red Sea on Tuesday while en route from King Abdullah Port in Saudi Arabia to Karachi Port, but there were no casualties.

According to the owner of this ship, this missile attack was carried out by Yemen.

The Tribune added: The Mediterranean shipping company said that the “United-8” was attacked while crossing the Red Sea on its way to Karachi, Pakistan. Meanwhile, all crew members are safe, no injuries have been reported, and a full assessment of the ship is underway.

According to this report, no official reaction has been announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan or the military institutions of this country regarding the targeting of the so-called commercial ship bound for Karachi.

The Pakistan Navy announced that it has deployed a warship in the Gulf of Aden only to ensure the safety of Pakistan’s merchant ships and its maritime activities.

At the same time, a Pakistani official rejected any participation of his country in the Joint Operation Unit 153 in the Red Sea or the Gulf of Aden in late December, calling the reports about the presence in this multinational military unit baseless.

Previously, four major shipping companies, including MSC, which is the world’s largest container shipping line, announced that they would avoid crossing the Suez Canal following Yemen’s attacks on ships.

The Suez Canal shipping route that leads to the Red Sea is an important waterway for global trade and is used to transport goods and energy between Europe and Asia and other regions of the world.

This route saves time and money by avoiding the entire African continent.

The forces of the Yemeni army have pledged to continue attacking the ships of this regime in the Red Sea until the Israeli regime does not stop its attacks on Gaza.
