Pakistan’s Defense Minister: Terrorism is the result of US policies in the region

PNN – The Pakistani Defense Minister attributed the challenges facing his country in the fight against terrorism to Islamabad’s support for American wars, adding: Western policies, including Washington’s, in the region have caused Pakistan to suffer from the phenomenon of terrorism today.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Khawaja Mohammad Asif, in an interview with Russia’s RT television regarding tensions between Pakistan and India, said: Islamabad is eager for diplomacy and lasting peace, yet is ready to respond to threats.

He stated: If India does not escalate tensions, Pakistan will not take any military action; otherwise, any aggression against Pakistan will be met with a proportionate response at a higher level.

Recalling the Pakistani Prime Minister’s proposal to India to conduct a transparent and independent investigation into the recent attack on Pahalgam, Khawaja Muhammad Asif added: By accepting this offer, New Delhi could help identify and punish the main perpetrators of the attack.

The Pakistani Defense Minister, who is known as a staunch critic of America’s aggressive policies in the region, especially its complicity with the Zionist regime in the massacre of Palestinians, admitted that unfortunately, our participation in America’s wars was not right and that these wars never had anything to do with Pakistan.

He emphasized: The Americans needed our help in the war with the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, then after the September 11 attacks, they once again declared Pakistan their ally, but this situation led Pakistan to the phenomenon of terrorism.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the challenges we face in Pakistan today are the result of Western and American policies in the region, which intensified after the devastating American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.
