PNN – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan considered the recent visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to that country as important and emphasized: Islamabad does not care about US sanctions and will do whatever is in line with the national interests.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Pakistani news channels, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said during a conversation with reporters in the parliament in Islamabad: The visit of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan is very important, and the government will soon inform the leaders of the opposition faction about the details and achievements of this trip.
Regarding the gas pipeline project from Iran to Pakistan, he added that we do not need to hide anything and if the recent misunderstandings between the two countries were not resolved, then why should the president of Iran visit Pakistan.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan stated that there is no mention of gas pipeline negotiations in the joint statement of Iran and Pakistan at the end of Raisi’s visit. The main issue is that we do not care about US sanctions.
He emphasized: “Pakistan will do whatever is in accordance with its national interests and we do not care about American sanctions.”
Senator Ishaq also said about the US State Department’s human rights report against Pakistan that we rejected this statement and gave a proper response to it.
Earlier, the Minister of Defense of Pakistan had called the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Islamabad very important and successful and emphasized: We are optimistic about finding a way to advance the joint gas project with Tehran.
Referring implicitly to America, which has recently expressed concern about the strengthening of cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad, Khawaja Mohammad Asif added: We do not care about foreign opposition, so if anyone is in pain following Ayatollah Raisi’s visit, we have no medicine for their pain.
Syed Ebrahim Raeesi arrived in Islamabad on his first foreign trip in the new year. The president of Iran also visited the cities of Lahore and Karachi.
He had a busy day in Islamabad. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan visited the President’s hotel, and then Raisi went to the Prime Minister’s Palace. where Pakistan Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif officially welcomed him. After that, bilateral meetings and then consultations between high-level delegations were held under the chairmanship of the heads of the two countries.
Officials of Iran and Pakistan also signed 8 memorandums of cooperation in the presence of Raisi and Shahbaz Sharif.
Raisi then met with his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari and the parties discussed a wide range of important bilateral issues, regional and international developments, especially the crimes of the usurping Israeli regime against the Gaza Strip and Palestine.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan also emphasized today in his weekly press conference, referring to the importance of the recent agreements with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially for accelerating the finalization of the free trade agreement and negotiations about the gas pipeline: Raisi’s visit was an opportunity to deepen our all-round cooperation with Iran.
