PM announces compensation for Islamabad mosque blast victims

PNN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced financial compensation for the families of those killed and injured in the recent suicide bombing that targeted a mosque in Islamabad, reiterating that the sacrifices of the victims would not go in vain.

Addressing the media, the premier strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an act of “extreme brutality” and an attempt to sow division within society.

“There can be no worse example of barbarity than this incident. It was a conspiracy to create division, but it has failed,” he said, adding that the nation remained united against terrorism.

The prime minister announced a compensation package of Rs5 million for the families of each of the martyrs. Those who sustained serious injuries will receive Rs3 million, while individuals with minor injuries will be given Rs1 million.

Later, Sharif visited the residence of Aoun Abbas, who lost his life while trying to stop the suicide attacker. Paying tribute to his courage and sacrifice, the prime minister termed him a symbol of bravery and national pride, and announced an additional Rs10 million in compensation for his family.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, the premier said that all possible measures would be taken to eliminate terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability in the country.
