KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday warned fishermen from going into deep waters owing to the prevailing depression in the Arabian Sea which is expected to further move towards the Oman coast.
“The depression over West-central Arabian Sea has slowly moved further westward during the past 10 hours and is at a distance of about 1,190km southwest of Karachi,” said the Met Office in a statement.
 Noting that winds of 30-40 kilometres per hour gusting 50 km per hour are likely around the system centre till evening and reduce thereafter, it added that sea conditions will remain rough till evening and improve thereafter.
The PMD also said that the system is likely to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area by this afternoon.
Meanwhile, as reported by The News on Tuesday, none of Pakistan’s coastal areas is under any threat from this system. Â
A day earlier, Karachi witnessed light showers in the early hours of the morning due to cloud cover owing to the Arabian Sea depression.
