LAHORE – The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has banned police officers from taking lifts from citizens on major roads in the province.

The officials, as per latest directives, have been barred from taking lifts on the Ring Road, GT Road, and motorways.

The development comes after the police officers and personnel were frequently spotted stopping vehicles on highways to take lifts to reach their destinations.

The DIG PHP said the ban will be strictly enforced, adding that the police officers will face disciplinary action for violating the directives.

He said it was against the code of conduct of the police officials to seek lifts from citizens on roads.
